This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Sales Strategy - Enterprise based in the United States.
This is a senior strategic leadership role supporting the performance and growth of a complex enterprise sales organization.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior sales leadership, combining business strategy, analytics, and operational discipline to improve outcomes.
The role spans revenue performance, forecasting, resource allocation, territory strategy, organizational planning, and investment decisions.
You will turn complex business data into clear recommendations that help leaders make faster, better-informed decisions.
Working across a highly matrixed environment, you will collaborate with Sales, Finance, Marketing, Product, HR, Channel, and Solutions Engineering teams.
The position offers broad visibility and the opportunity to influence high-priority initiatives across the enterprise business.
Success will come from improving productivity, enabling sustainable growth, and creating more predictable and profitable business performance.
- Evaluate enterprise business performance, identifying trends, risks, performance gaps, and opportunities for growth, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior sales leadership on business priorities, investments, resource allocation, and organizational decisions.
- Analyze revenue trends, pipeline health, forecast accuracy, productivity indicators, and other commercial metrics to support business decisions.
- Use commercial and analytical insights to identify opportunities for growth and areas where performance or execution can be improved.
- Partner with Sales Operations and Finance to optimize resource allocation, sales coverage models, investment priorities, and organizational effectiveness.
- Support complex revenue and margin strategies through financial analysis, investment evaluation, deal economics, and business case development.
- Contribute to annual planning, territory strategy, organizational design, headcount planning, and broader go-to-market investment decisions.
- Evaluate headcount, coverage models, productivity, and resource deployment to ensure the enterprise organization is positioned for sustainable growth.
- Maintain strong relationships with field leaders to understand customer needs, market conditions, partner dynamics, and competitive developments.
- Serve as a cross-functional liaison connecting Sales with Finance, Marketing, Product, HR, Channel, Solutions Engineering, Sales Operations, and other go-to-market functions.
- Lead strategic initiatives from analysis and planning through execution, ensuring priorities remain aligned with business objectives.
- Navigate complex and ambiguous business challenges, bringing structure, diplomacy, and practical problem-solving to high-impact projects.
- Develop executive-ready presentations, insights, and recommendations that enable senior stakeholders to make informed decisions.
- Influence outcomes across organizational boundaries without relying on direct authority.
- Continuously identify ways to improve seller productivity, operational efficiency, investment effectiveness, and predictable revenue performance.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise technology, complex B2B sales, sales strategy, business operations, or a closely related environment.
- Experience working in storage or storage-adjacent technology environments, with an understanding of hardware, cloud, SaaS, and consumption-based business models.
- Strong understanding of enterprise sales motions, forecasting, pipeline management, territory planning, coverage strategies, and complex deal execution.
- Demonstrated experience leading strategic initiatives that influence business performance and organizational priorities.
- Strong financial, commercial, and analytical acumen, with the ability to translate complex data into practical business actions.
- Proven ability to evaluate trends, identify risks and opportunities, and develop recommendations for senior leadership.
- Experience partnering closely with senior sales leaders and executive teams in a complex or highly matrixed organization.
- Strong organizational and operational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex business concepts clearly to executive audiences.
- Strong executive presence and demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, sound business judgment, and a structured approach to ambiguity.
