The Monell Chemical Senses Center is a world-renowned non-profit research institute and a global leader dedicated to advancing knowledge about the senses of taste, smell, and related senses and translating its discoveries into real-world advances in policy, practice, and behavior. Monell is located in the heart of the vibrant educational and life sciences hub of Philadelphia.
Summary: The Research Associate is responsible for performing studies investigating the neural circuitry that mediates the effects of GLP-1R agonist drugs. The successful candidate will become an integral member of the Alhadeff Lab and Monell Center and will develop independent and collaborative projects with some of the top behavioral and neuroscience researchers examining feeding behavior, obesity, and metabolism research.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Independently design experiments, analyze data, and interpret data
- Troubleshoot routine and standard experiments
- Interact closely with the Principal Investigator to develop insights and propose new ideas
- Organize data into a state that is comprehensible for review by the Primary Investigator for grant proposals, progress reports and publications, as well as assist in the drafting of grants and manuscripts
- Interact with and collaborate with other lab members and provide feedback on lab projects
Education & Experience
Minimum requirements for the position:
- PhD in Neuroscience, Biology, or related field
- Demonstrated record of productivity
- Programming skills in Python or Matlab for acquisition and data processing
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are essential
- Detail-oriented and able to work independently
