Job Description
Summary/Objective
The Acute, Night Shift, Registered Nurse (RN) employs intellectual, interpersonal, and technical skills, utilizing the nursing process, to assist patients of various ages in achieving their maximum health potential. The RN functions as a health team member through independent, interdependent, and dependent roles within the healthcare system. The Acute Registered Nurse reports to the ED/Acute Nurse Manager. All Acute Registered Nurses will be cross-trained as ED Registered Nurses.
Essential Functions
Maintains confidentiality of appropriate records per hospital policy and applicable law.
Coordinates all aspects of admission, transfer, and discharge with the healthcare team.
Demonstrates competency in selected technical skills (e.g., psychomotor skills, equipment use and troubleshooting, IV/IO insertion, maintenance and discontinuation, medication administration).
Effectively evaluates patients to recognize changes in condition and intervenes appropriately.
Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, IV, rectal, IM, or IO) and records prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy.
Records patients’ current vital signs and alerts the ED physician or the Clinic physician for abnormal vital signs in a timely manner.
Organizes, prioritizes, and completes activities and assignments in an efficient and timely manner.

Requirements:Required Education and Experience
Graduate of an accredited nursing school
Current RN license in California
BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
Preferred Education and Experience
One year of previous experience in an Acute Care setting
