We are seeking a team member who is able to:

  • Apply critical thinking related to financial reporting.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to the multiple agency contacts we serve.
  • Formulate an opinion independently.

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

  • Prepare and review the Statewide Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), including the function of co-lead worker who assists less senior staff understand the policies and procedures, application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and methods of reviewing data to ensure accuracy and/or find and correct discrepancies.
  • Analyzes and provides comments on the impact of proposed Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) statements and their effect on the State-wide financial statements.
  • Prepare, review and assist, as assigned, with the Statewide Cost Allocation Plan and Schedule of Federal Expenditures, which includes research of the federal code of regulations as needed.
  • Prepare, review, and assist, as assigned, with the General Revenue Cash Flow, Appropriation Activity Report, and various other reports.
  • Assist with Statewide Fixed Assets, duties of which include review, recommendation, and implementation of Statewide Accounting Policies, including development of revisions caused by new GASB pronouncements; answer agency questions regarding Statewide Accounting policies; review supporting documentation, compliance of, and appropriateness of fixed asset journal vouchers; SAM II testing of fixed asset transactions. Review SAM II data to identify errors in recorded fixed asset information and coordinate with Departments.
  • Assist with the maintenance, review, analysis, and evaluation of the statewide accounting system.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree. Substitutions may be allowed (for example, but not limited to, professional certifications or additional relevant experience).
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience and/or appropriate certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Experience in interpreting and applying GAAP.
  • Knowledge of Governmental Accounting and GASB Standards.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel.
  • Considerable knowledge of, and experience with, SAMII Financial and HR Systems’ on-line, data warehouse, and Document Direct reports.
  • Knowledge of MissouriBUYS.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines and ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
