Description
Essential Responsibilities: This description of job responsibilities is intended to reflect the major responsibilities and duties of the job, but is not intended to describe minor duties or other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
- Accurately and promptly responds to state and federal subpoenas, regulatory/peer review organization, legal requests, and production of document requests.
- Reviews and validates authorizations/requests for health information for accuracy.
- Alerts the Medical Records Director and the Risk Manager of non-routine requests for health information.
- Maintains and updates the database of requested health information.
- Appropriately responds to requestors of protected health information when requested information may not be released.
- Responsible for responding to local Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) organizations, state and federal subpoenas, production of document requests, regulatory/peer review agencies, attorney requests and special Medical Staff request for health information in accordance with current state and federal laws.
- Scans signed authorizations obtained for release of information and stores them on the imaging system in the electronic record.
- Successfully completes any other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
- Associate’s Degree or Certificate related to healthcare or to the judicial system preferred.
Experience
- 3 years’ health care experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Computer skills; state/federal law regarding protected health information training.
- Establish secure remote environment for assigned responsibilities
