In response to a physician’s referral, provides speech therapy services according to the appropriate governing agency for South Carolina within the scope of his/her training, knowledge, and experience. This may include, but is not limited to, evaluation and treatment of all areas that are discipline appropriate using accepted standards of care and established protocols. Will provide direct speech therapy services to individuals, age birth to 21 years, as their expertise and caseload demands. Will coordinate and provide patient/family/caregiver education, determine need for additional referrals, participates in program development, CQI/QA projects, educational programs/in-services and performs non-patient care responsibilities as assigned. Pursues continuing education and assists in marketing of departmental services.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure collaboration, coordination, and communication within and outside of the department.
- Implements quality assurance/improvement standards and participates (as assigned) in data collection for QA/CQI review.
- Participate in inter- and intra-departmental CQI projects as assigned.
- Maintain involvement with selection, data collection, tracking and resolution of ongoing QA/CQI indicators.
- Market AnMed Therapy – Pediatrics services by participating in community and hospital functions, presenting in-services on areas of expertise, and presenting to and/or participating in community organizations as applicable for the field of speech-language pathology.
- Relate program development needs to Supervisor and participate in program development as assigned.
- Participate in recruitment and selection of Departmental staff.
- Promote and maintain a professional and courteous working relationship with medical staff, patients, families, therapy associates, students, agency staff, vendors, and other medical center staff.
- Demonstrate an awareness of educational goals, hospital mission, vision, and I AM ANMED standards.
- Assist with administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Current or temporary licensure with the S.C. Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech Language Hearing Association or approved Clinical Fellowship Year Plan.
- Certification in CPR for basic life support due within 90 days of hire.
- When appropriate, mandatory requirements will be completed every 90 days through RQI system if employee uses RQI or biannual CPR renewal system according to American Heart Association guidelines.
