We are looking for a full-time Project Engineer at our Tonawanda NY office. This is an onsite position that is responsible for providing product, application Engineering, sales, and project management support to customers and sales representatives while interfacing with a team of technical Sales Managers. The schedule for this role will be 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday, with the opportunity to work remotely on Fridays once fully trained.

Job responsibilities:

  • Review assigned inquiries, including customer documentation / specifications, to support the definition of appropriate products to offer
  • Perform engineering and product sizing calculations to specify equipment
  • Complete/support completion of cost estimates and technical proposals to inquiries for Sales team review and submittal to the customer and/or associated sales representatives.
  • Analyze customer project requirements and communicate to engineering, production and other Operations groups as needed; Direct and manage project execution from beginning to end supporting both internal and external customers;
  • Support the Order Entry Administrator with the creation of new customer orders and job orders
  • Act as a single point of accountability to oversee, direct, and manage deliverables of projects to customers from inquiry through warranty of project;
  • Collaborate with vendors/suppliers on pricing, lead times and productivity ideas to support customer solutions;
  • Create Design Change Notice(s) (DCN) for customer driven scope changes to internal teams when required;
  • Track project scope changes and communicate updated pricing to customers for review/approval in accordance with the CPEG Buffalo protocol
  • Support the definition of materials and define BOM requirements for the BOM coordinator, for creation and or loading of items into the ERP system
  • Act as liaison between CPEG Buffalo customers and all departments within the CPEG Organization;
  • Support internal design review meeting with Engineering & Design teams to review compliance with customer requirements and product realization
  • Facilitate and Schedule Project Kickoff meetings with internal teams;
  • Meet with existing and potential customers, and support trade show efforts (Travel up to 20%)
  • Supporting the Customer Service team, where applicable;
  • Writing and follow-up of various non-conformity reports where applicable;
  • Support customer and 3rd party witness points / inspections at CPEG facilities (Travel up to 5%);
  • Participate in business development and marketing activities (eg, contact existing customers and new prospects to discuss new products and projects).
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and company/customer confidentiality agreements.
  • Create, maintain, and improve relationships with customers, sales managers, and outside sales representatives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree (preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering).
  • 2-3 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing business (preferred)
  • Awareness of manufacturing methods and procedures.
  • Maintain a customer-focused perspective in all activities initiated to ensure that customer needs are successfully met.
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other project team members as well as customers across a wide range of positions and talents;
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency level in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; as well as Adobe Acrobat and Windows.
  • Able to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Able to understand proper handling of all paperwork required in department, including reporting of time
  • Able to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities with frequent interruptions
  • Able to function and concentrate in a busy, noisy environment
  • Ability to travel to Canada to facilitate work on projects manufactured in that location
  • Technical aptitude – You understand equipment specifications and process applications and can understand equipment assembly logistics and material and labor cost contribution to overall equipment cost estimates and engineering principles.
