Position Summary:
The LoboRESPECT Advocacy Center has a dynamic work environment that provides a variety of opportunities to assist and support students and to work collaboratively with campus partners. The ideal candidate must have the ability to work independently, be well organized, and creative. They will be empowered to utilize critical thinking and analytical skills to effectively provide support services to students and UNM community members seeking advocacy and navigation of UNM and community systems and resources. This position is for someone that enjoys working both independently and as a team member utilizing their analytical and problem-solving skills as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills. Under the close mentorship of director of the Advocacy Center, this position undertakes a range of on-going activities and assigned projects of varying levels of complexity within the LoboRESPECT Advocacy Center. In addition, this position will work as a member of the Dean of Students Office staff, directly working with colleagues both inside and outside of the office in the planning and implementation of advocacy, projects, and tasks. The Campus Advocate position in the LoboRESPECT Advocacy Center is a multifaceted position that focuses on the overall well-being of our students. Their primary duties include providing advocacy and support services to students in crisis, managing and delivering our university-wide student sexual misconduct prevention training, and creating and maintaining collaborative relationships with campus and community partners. - Ability to communicate at various levels and scopes of work (dealing with students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members)
Duties & Responsibilities
The Campus Advocate position in the LoboRESPECT Advocacy Center is a multifaceted position that focuses on the overall well-being of our students. Their primary duties include providing advocacy and support services to students in crisis, managing and delivering our university-wide student sexual misconduct prevention training, and creating and maintaining collaborative relationships with campus and community partners. This position works to empower students by providing clear, timely information and access to resources, so they may make informed decisions that reflect their unique needs. Our Campus Advocate will:
- Provide professional and confidential crisis response, advocacy, accompaniment, and referral services to survivors of all forms of violence, including sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking, sexual harassment, and other issues to facilitate and promote individual recovery and success.
- Be responsible for complying with federal and state regulations, such as the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Title IX, and Clery Act.
- Provide in-person and virtual large group and small group training/workshops.
- Facilitate several university processes within the LoboRESPECT Advocacy Center including absence notifications, faculty communication, resource navigation, short term disabilities, and semester withdrawals and will participate in various university committees related to sexual misconduct training and response.
- Works closely with all center staff to promote/market the center including promotional materials, educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, and/or brochures, as appropriate to the program.
- Provides support to department staff in the development and implementation of programming administered through the department.

- Of the three years of relevant experience, a qualified applicant should have at least two years of experience with providing specific support and advocacy on topics related to, but not limited to, sexual misconduct, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, stalking, and other traumatic experiences and/or events.
- Knowledge of prevention education principles and research.
- Ability to work with a variety of constituents on culturally sensitive topics.
- Experience working with students, student organizations, and parents and families in a university setting.
