Surgical Tech First Assistant – Certified

As a Certified Surgical First Assistant at the Froedtert South Birthing Inn, you'll work directly alongside surgeons and the surgical team to support safe, efficient procedures.

This role offers an opportunity to use advanced surgical skills in a specialized environment focused on women's surgical care.

What You'll Do

• Assist surgeons during surgical procedures within established standards and scope of practice.
• Prepare the operating room, instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Assist with patient positioning, preparation, and draping.
• Maintain sterile technique throughout procedures.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team.
• Assist with exposure, tissue handling, hemostasis, and closure as appropriate.
• Perform and verify surgical counts.
• Handle specimens according to established procedures.
• Assist with equipment and instrument management.
• Support efficient operating room turnover.
• Follow infection prevention and patient safety standards.
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, nurses, and other members of the surgical team.

What We're Looking For

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Certification in The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or certification as Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) by the National Surgical Assistant Association.
• Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Previous surgical experience.
• Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, procedures, instrumentation, and sterile technique.

Pay & Benefits

$31.50 - $48.00 per hour | Differentials for PMs, Nights & Weekends.

Pay is based on experience.
