About This Position
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Recovery Counselor/Case Manager to join our growing team. This role is responsible for providing therapeutic support to individuals in recovery, maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support client progress. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and client-focused, with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced treatment environment.

Position Summary:
The Recovery Counselor/Case Manager provides person-centered support to individuals receiving services, empowering them to take an active role in their own recovery journey. This role focuses on coaching, mentoring, and connecting individuals to community resources that promote independence, wellness, and self-sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support individuals in directing their own recovery process by promoting autonomy, choice, and self-advocacy
- Teach, coach, and motivate individuals in developing and applying skills that support recovery and daily living
- Educate individuals on available service options, including literacy programs, GED preparation, employment opportunities, volunteer work, and social activities
- Accompany individuals to access community services and resources as needed
- Encourage the use of natural supports and community-based resources aligned with individuals’ interests
- Foster a sense of wellness, confidence, and self-worth among individuals receiving services
- Provide warmline cell phone coverage on a rotating schedule to offer support and guidance
- Escort individuals from the HOPE & Welcome Center to essential appointments and services, including medical visits, hospitals, food banks, public assistance offices (DPW), and housing or shelter services
- Assist with transportation coordination and support within the Welcome Center to ensure individuals can access needed services

Requirements:B.A. in human service field and 2 years of mental health direct care experience, which include 60 hours of psychiatric rehabilitation training or 2 years of experience in psychiatric rehabilitation; or an associate degree or equivalency and 4 years of mental health direct care experience, which must include either 60 hours of psychiatric rehabilitation training or 2 years of experience in psychiatric rehabilitation; H.S. plus 3 years mental health/psych rehab experience; CPS certification plus 2 years mental health/psych rehab experience.
* Note: Current staff will have an opportunity to obtain training and experience within a 1 year time period.
Ø Valid PA driver’s license
Ø Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Word.
Ø Knowledge (or willingness to learn about) community resources in Philadelphia area.
Ø Willingness to work flexible work schedule to include some evenings, weekends, and holiday hours.
Recovery Counselor Therapist Job Requirements:
- B.A. in human service field with 2 years of mental health direct care experience, which include 60 hours of psychiatric rehabilitation training; or
- B.A. in human service field with 2 years of experience in psychiatric rehabilitation; or
- Associate degree or equivalency and 4 years of mental health direct care experience (either 60 hours of psychiatric rehabilitation training or 2 years of experience in psychiatric rehabilitation); or
- High School Diploma or GED with 3 years mental health/psych rehab experience; or
- CPS certification with 2 years mental health/psych rehab experience.
