About This Position

About the role
As a Principal Engineer at Quo, you will play a critical leadership role, reporting directly to the VP Engineering and participating in strategic decisions that shape the future of our technology and product direction. You will be a hands-on implementer, driving bold decisions and delivering high-impact solutions that set the standard for engineering excellence across the organization.
Potential areas of focus include:
  • Leading the design and development of identity resolution systems to create unified customer records across multiple data sources, enabling valuable insights and improved customer experiences.
  • Building scalable, AI-driven data platforms that organize and analyze customer data, empowering product teams with actionable insights without the need for traditional BI tools.
  • Driving the expansion into omnichannel communication by integrating video, email, and social media channels into a seamless platform experience.
  • Owning complex integration challenges at scale, ensuring robust and extensible systems that support a growing ecosystem of third-party services.

In this role, you will mentor and guide engineering teams, foster consensus, and embody the highest standards of software design and development. Your product-minded approach and ability to anticipate needs will help shape innovative solutions that drive Quo's growth and success.
Technical stack and tools:
  • Our backend is built on Node using Typescript.
  • We use Kubernetes on AWS to orchestrate our infrastructure setup and deployment.
  • The overall architecture is event-driven microservices with RabbitMQ at the center of it.
  • We use a variety of databases for different purposes: Postgres, Mongo, Elastic, and Redis.
  • We use Kong as our public API Gateway.
  • Our communication platform is built on WebRTC, integrating with Twilio for telephony services.
  • Observability Tools: Datadog
  • Other Tools: Figma, Linear, Notion, and Slack

About you
  • Ideally, you have a strong background in data engineering or backend development, bringing deep expertise in building robust, scalable systems.
  • Deep expertise in designing and building scalable, maintainable systems, but also 0->1 solutions, with a bias towards hands-on implementation and delivering impactful solutions.
  • Proven leadership mindset: self-motivated, accountable, and able to drive complex projects independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly identify root causes, see the bigger picture, and make sound decisions that align with business and product goals.
  • Product-minded with a strong ability to anticipate product needs and translate them into technical solutions that empower users and support company strategy.
  • Skilled mentor and communicator who can guide individuals and squads, build consensus, and set high standards for software design, development, and system architecture.
  • Comfortable working across multiple domains, including identity resolution, AI-driven data insights, omnichannel communication, and integrations at scale.
  • Humble and collaborative: you bring brilliance without arrogance, fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
