The Business Development Specialist I will assist Moffitt’s business development team to execute successful partnerships with industrial partners. This position will engage with faculty, Moffitt’s Business Development managers and industry contacts to help identify budget needs, providing logistical support during negotiation and tracking negotiation progress. The Business Development Specialist I will work with internal team members to schedule calls, take meeting minutes, update database, and implement process required for successful business negotiation. This role will support the business development managers by coordinating project activities, creating presentations, collating required documentation, monitoring timelines, and assisting in preparation and review of term sheets, budgets and legal contracts. |
Select Responsibilities:
Gather Business Intelligence: Compile market analyses, competitive landscapes, and company profiles.
Draft Sponsored Research Documents: Create a draft that describes the nature and scope of sponsored research projects for Research Plan Summaries, Research Pitch Presentation, SOWs, Fast Fact Executive Summaries, etc.
Assemble Budgets for Industry Collaboration Projects: Gathering quotes for purchased services, reagents, and salary allocation, initiating approval processes, performing Conduct Conflict of Interest (COI) checks, priority Scoring, etc.
Building and maintaining Relationships & Managing Partnering Meetings: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting partner relationships. Engage partners to understand their business needs and objectives and align them with Moffitt’s offerings.
Planning Conferences: Supports the planning of conferences and participates on department committees
Identify and develop new Business: Identify and develop new business opportunities through networking, industry knowledge, and current relationships. Utilize knowledge of the market and competitors to identify and develop Moffitt’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
Credentials and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree within life sciences, computer sciences or related field. *In lieu of Bachelor’s degree an Associates degree with an additional 3 years of experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year of science experience that may include performing laboratory, translational, clinical and observational research including creating scientific summaries, research documents and reasarch reports is required.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of research methodologies.
- High attention to detail and the ability to multitask, manage multiple concurrent deliverables, and respond quickly to ad hoc requests to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, to include but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Exceptional communication skills: oral, written, and listening. Strong reading comprehension and analytical skills.
