About This Position

Pratt Munson College of Art and Design, in partnership with Munson Community Arts (MCA), is seeking a friendly and reliable Part-Time Receptionist to manage the reception area/front office of the Studio Building during evening hours and Saturday mornings throughout the fall, spring, and summer sessions. This is a dynamic role ideal for someone who enjoys engaging with students, visitors, and community members while providing exceptional customer service. This position shares 3.5 hour evening shifts two evenings a week and every other Saturday morning for 3.5 hours with another reception staff member

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides customer service by providing information, answering phones/directing calls, greeting customers, directing visitors, and selling supplies. Acts as the first point of contact for College of Art and Design faculty, students, visitors, and models.
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, and students, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor at all times. Collaborate with other reception staff on various administrative tasks as needed.
  • Receive, sort and distribute incoming mail to faculty, staff, and Pratt Munson student mailboxes. Receive student and staff package deliveries, sort, and notify recipients.
  • Supports community enrollment by registering students for non-credit classes in the mNet database.
  • Perform finance-related duties by cashing in/out at beginning and end of shift and performing cash and charge retail transactions in mNet.
  • Maintains general operation during shift by monitoring studio activity and access to the Studio Building.
  • Organize and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Other responsibilities
    • Perform other duties as required
    • May be asked to serve on Munson interdivisional committees
    • May be asked to work at special events

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent and 6 months to one year job-related experience.
  • Desired: Familiarity with computers and cash in/cash out procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional interpersonal skills to interact with Munson staff and faculty, students and other Munson constituents.

COMPUTER MACHINE & EQUIPMENT SKILLS:

Computer literacy in database management, Microsoft and Google software expertise, demonstrated ability to learn budget workflow software, the ability to learn specialized software related to education and admissions, and the ability to operate general office equipment.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES & DEMANDS:

Lifting Requirements: Must possess the ability to exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and up to 5 lbs. of force frequently. Weights over 50 lbs. should only be moved with assistance.

The position entails extended periods of sitting, walking or standing, talking, hearing and the ability to operate computer and general office equipment and/or extensive reading. A complete job description will be provided with interview.
