This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a PR Specialist based in United States.
This is a senior, hands-on public relations role focused on building authority and securing meaningful earned-media coverage.
You will independently manage 4–6 client accounts across diverse industries, from technology and cybersecurity to healthcare, education, and public policy.
The role covers the full media relations lifecycle, from researching journalists and identifying timely angles to crafting pitches and securing placements.
You will also develop thought leadership content and build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.
Success requires strong judgment, exceptional writing skills, and the ability to quickly understand unfamiliar industries and news cycles.
You will work with significant autonomy while using modern PR, media intelligence, and AI-powered research tools to improve campaign effectiveness.
This is a fully remote opportunity for professionals who can deliver polished, measurable PR results with minimal supervision.
- Independently manage end-to-end media relations across 4–6 client accounts, covering media intelligence, journalist targeting, pitching, follow-ups, placements, writing, tracking, and client communication.
- Quickly research unfamiliar industries and identify relevant reporters, editors, publications, and emerging news cycles.
- Build targeted media lists and identify timely, credible angles that position clients and subject-matter experts as authoritative sources.
- Write highly personalized media pitches, bylines, op-eds, contributed articles, thought leadership pieces, and other communications tailored to specific journalists, audiences, and publications.
- Manage structured pitching and follow-up sequences, respond to journalist inquiries, coordinate interviews and briefings, and manage embargoes, exclusives, corrections, and supporting materials.
- Own day-to-day relationships with senior client stakeholders, including weekly status updates, monthly coverage reports, interview preparation, expectation management, and proactive strategic recommendations.
- Maintain detailed account trackers and ensure accurate monitoring of campaign activity, media opportunities, and results.
- Continuously identify new media angles, editorial opportunities, calendar hooks, awards, partnerships, speaking opportunities, and other ways to increase client visibility.
- Use AI tools to support research, media-list development, angle exploration, monitoring, synthesis, and reporting while rigorously verifying reporters, beats, facts, statistics, and sources before use.
Requirements:
- 5–8 years of professional experience in agency PR, public relations, or in-house communications, with substantial hands-on experience pitching journalists and securing earned-media coverage.
- Demonstrated success securing media placements across at least two unrelated industries, with the ability to clearly explain the strategy, targeting, pitch, and execution behind those results.
- Direct experience in at least one relevant sector, such as cybersecurity, enterprise technology, healthcare, health technology, biotech, government and public policy, education, culture and the arts, nonprofits, or energy and renewables.
- Exceptional American English writing skills, with proven experience producing media pitches, bylines, op-eds, contributed articles, thought leadership content, and client-facing communications.
- Strong knowledge of PR and media intelligence platforms such as Muck Rack, Cision, Meltwater, Prowly, Qwoted, or comparable tools.
- Proven ability to independently manage senior client relationships while handling multiple accounts and competing priorities.
- Strong research, news judgment, storytelling, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar industries, identify credible narratives, and translate complex topics into compelling media angles.
- Experience using AI tools for PR research and campaign execution, combined with a disciplined approach to fact-checking and source verification.
- Highly autonomous, organized, proactive, and comfortable producing journalist- and client-ready work with minimal review.
- Advanced English proficiency at C1 level or above.
- Willingness to work full-time on a schedule aligned with U.S. Eastern Time.
