Position Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA) provides medical dermatology and selected cosmetic and aesthetic services under a written collaborative agreement with a licensed physician, in accordance with the Illinois Physician Assistant Practice Act (225 ILCS 95) and applicable IDFPR regulations. Responsibilities include patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, prescribing (when delegated), and procedural care as authorized by the supervising/collaborating physician.

Services include dermatology, cosmetic and regenerative treatments, hair loss management, sclerotherapy, and medical weight loss utilizing GLP-1 agonists.
This position does not include neuromodulators or dermal fillers.

Position Accountabilities and Performance Objectives

  1. Provides direct patient care pursuant to a written collaborative agreement with the supervising/collaborating physician and within the PA’s education, training, and demonstrated competency, as permitted by Illinois law.
  2. Delivers care consistent with delegated authority, clinical protocols, and guidelines mutually developed and agreed upon by the PA and collaborating physician.
  3. Performs medical dermatology services including:
  • Obtaining and documenting medical histories
  • Performing focused and comprehensive skin examinations
  • Formulating differential diagnoses
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies and laboratory tests
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans
  1. Performs cosmetic and aesthetic procedures specifically delegated by the collaborating physician and documented in the collaborative agreement, including:
  • Microneedling
  • Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments
  • Exosome-based regenerative therapies
  • Laser and energy-based device procedures, including but not limited to: Laser Hair Removal, Intense Pulsed Light treatments, MiraDry Treatments, RF Cellulite treatments, Body Contouring with HIFEM + RF technology, RF skin tightening, RF vaginal rejuvenation, HIFEM pelvic floor stimulation, cryolipolysis
  • Sclerotherapy
  1. Evaluates and manages hair loss disorders, including diagnostic assessment, counseling, and procedural or regenerative treatments as authorized.
  2. Provides medical weight loss care utilizing GLP-1 agonists when prescriptive authority is delegated, including patient evaluation, education, medication management, monitoring, and follow-up per protocol.
  3. Clearly identifies themselves to patients as a Physician Assistant and ensures patients understand the PA role in their care.
  4. Communicates effectively with collaborating physicians regarding patient care decisions, changes in patient condition, and scope or delegation issues.
  5. Accurately and timely documents all patient encounters, procedures, prescriptions, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record (EMR) in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  6. Reviews clinic schedules to ensure readiness, efficiency, and appropriate allocation of patient care resources.
  7. Assists physicians in clinic and procedural settings as needed and within scope.
  8. Maintains active Illinois PA licensure, national PA-C certification, DEA registration (if applicable), and required continuing medical education (CME).
  9. Adheres to all clinic policies, OSHA standards, HIPAA requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned to support safe, compliant, and high-quality patient care.

  2. Demonstrates competency in cosmetic dermatology procedures and laser/energy-based devices consistent with documented training and physician delegation.

  4. Demonstrates sound clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  5. Functions effectively within a physician-led, team-based care model.
  6. Maintains strong organizational skills with attention to detail and regulatory compliance.
  7. Manages multiple patient care responsibilities efficiently and safely.
  8. Treats patients, physicians, and staff with respect and professionalism.
  9. Demonstrates empathy and sensitivity to patient concerns, expectations, and outcomes.
  10. Proactively supports collaborating physicians and contributes to coordinated, high-quality patient care.
Requirements:

Education

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with:

  • Active Illinois Physician Assistant license
  • Current PA-C certification
  • Eligibility for prescriptive authority in Illinois (preferred)

Experience

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a dermatology and cosmetic practice preferred. Experience with cosmetic dermatology, lasers and energy-based devices, regenerative medicine, hair loss treatments, sclerotherapy, or medical weight loss programs is strongly preferred.
