We are seeking a Lead Advanced Practice Provider (PA or FNP) to help lead clinical operations at our Chicago location. This is an opportunity for an experienced APP to remain actively involved in patient care while also serving as a clinical leader, mentor, and resource for the provider team.
Position SummaryThe Lead APP will provide high-quality outpatient care while supporting the clinical performance, development, and day-to-day operations of the APP team.
This position is designed for an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) who is comfortable balancing direct patient care with clinical leadership. The Lead APP will help ensure consistent clinical standards, support provider development, identify opportunities for improvement, and collaborate closely with physicians, clinical staff, and operational leadership.
The ideal candidate is clinically strong, approachable, accountable, and comfortable taking initiative in a growing healthcare environment.
What You'll DoPatient Care- Provide comprehensive outpatient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up within your licensed scope of practice.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and provide appropriate patient education.
- Manage acute and chronic conditions and coordinate referrals and follow-up care.
- Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing within scope.
- Prescribe medications in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for APPs and other members of the care team.
- Support consistent clinical standards, workflows, and best practices across the practice.
- Assist with onboarding, orientation, and development of new APPs.
- Provide clinical guidance and support to APPs when questions or complex cases arise.
- Promote collaboration between APPs, physicians, nursing, medical assistants, and other clinical team members.
- Help identify opportunities to improve patient care, provider workflows, and clinical outcomes.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based clinical practices.
- Monitor clinical and operational performance metrics and help identify areas for improvement.
- Promote appropriate documentation, coding, compliance, and patient safety practices.
- Participate in clinical meetings, case discussions, and quality initiatives.
- Help implement standardized processes that improve consistency, efficiency, and patient experience.
- Partner with Practice and Clinical Operations leadership to address workflow and operational challenges.
- Assist with maintaining appropriate provider coverage and efficient patient flow.
- Communicate clinical needs and opportunities to leadership.
- Support implementation of new programs, services, technology, and clinical workflows.
- Help create a positive, collaborative, and accountable clinical environment.
- Active, unrestricted Physician Assistant (PA) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) license in Illinois.
- Graduation from an accredited PA or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current national certification appropriate to your profession.
- DEA registration or eligibility to obtain and maintain one, as applicable.
- Experience providing outpatient primary care or family medicine.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, treatment planning, and patient-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary clinical teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to patient-centered care, quality, compliance, and clinical excellence.
- 3+ years of APP clinical experience, preferably in outpatient primary care or family medicine.
- Previous APP leadership, mentorship, precepting, or clinical supervisory experience.
- Experience working in a multi-provider or multi-site healthcare organization.
- Experience with quality improvement, clinical performance metrics, or workflow optimization.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus, particularly Polish.
- Base Salary: $130,000–$155,000 annually
