Position Summary:
The Student Assistant – Dodson Auditorium & Events supports the Dodson Auditorium staff in the daily operation of the auditorium and the coordination of campus events. The student assistant will gain practical experience in event operations, customer service, facility preparation, administrative support, and event coordination.
The position assists with preparing facilities for events, providing on-site event support, communicating with campus departments and event participants, maintaining organized records and supplies, and completing general office and operational duties as assigned.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist the Dodson Auditorium staff with daily operational duties.
- Help prepare the auditorium and other event spaces for meetings, performances, conferences, receptions, and special events.
- Assist with room setup, including arranging tables, chairs, signage, and other event materials.
- Help inspect event spaces before and after events and report maintenance, safety, or facility concerns to the appropriate staff member.
- Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for guests and event participants.
- Help organize and maintain event supplies, equipment, signage, and other departmental materials.
- Assist with opening and closing event spaces as directed.
- Perform other operational duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Requirements:
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student at Kilgore College
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Must be able to take direction well and work with little supervision
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Work is performed in an office, auditorium, event, and campus environment.
- Position may require extended periods of standing and walking during event preparation and event days.
- May occasionally require lifting, carrying, moving, or arranging event materials, tables, chairs, signage, and other equipment.
- Must be able to occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work may occasionally occur in crowded or active event environments.
- May require occasional evening or weekend work depending on the campus event schedule.
Safety:
- Follow all Kilgore College safety policies and procedures.
- Use equipment and facilities only as instructed and trained.
- Report unsafe conditions, facility concerns, accidents, or injuries to the appropriate supervisor immediately.
- Support a safe and welcoming environment for students, employees, guests, vendors, and event participants.
Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:
- The rate of pay is up to $10-$12 per hour depending on experience for up to 19 hours per week.

All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.

Positions will remain open until filled. Some Adjunct and Part-Time teaching positions may remain open perpetually as the need for part time instructors fluctuates with student enrollment. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. An offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check.
