Role and Responsibilities

· Greet members and guests professionally, cordially, and enthusiastically as they enter and leave the Pickleball

Center.

· Learn and use members’ names and become familiar with their needs to provide personalized and efficient

service.

· Use Listen First skills during interactions with members, guests, volunteers, and coworkers.

· Verify membership upon entry, confirm memberships are current in the membership database, and properly

record facility access.

· Manage indoor court reservations, check-ins, and open-play rotation systems (such as paddle-stacking rules or

court challenge boards) to ensure fair court flow and timely transitions.

· Assist program leaders with check-ins, participant rosters, and court assignments for indoor leagues, clinics,

and tournaments.

· Inform players of facility policies, indoor non-marking court shoe requirements, and safety guidelines.

· Answer telephone calls within three rings using appropriate phone protocol. Provide accurate information

regarding Pickleball Center facilities, programs, services, and schedules.

· When unable to answer an inquiry, obtain the individual’s contact information and ensure timely follow-up by

the appropriate staff member.

· Properly transfer calls and take accurate messages for unavailable staff.

· Address questions, concerns, and negative feedback courteously and professionally. Communicate member

suggestions and concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

· Process payments, program and facility registrations, and applicable fees accurately and in accordance with

YMCA policies and procedures.

· Complete end-of-shift reports and ensure all paperwork and monetary transactions reconcile accurately.

· Keep the Welcome Center Desk attended except in a true emergency.

· Execute routine opening and closing procedures, including securing the Welcome Center, managing indoor court lighting, and ensuring court nets and dividers are properly positioned.

· Inspect indoor courts routinely for safety hazards, such as condensation, moisture, or stray balls, and promptly dry or clear court surfaces to prevent injuries.

· Respond to emergencies promptly and professionally according to YMCA procedures. Provide basic first-aid supplies as appropriate, complete required accident and incident reports, and notify senior staff.

· Create a positive and nurturing environment that promotes youth development, healthy living, social responsibility, teamwork, leadership, initiative, and good judgment.

· Support member engagement by communicating YMCA programs and services and encouraging participation. · Participate in and support the Annual Campaign.

· Provide timely feedback to the supervisor regarding member needs, program operations, facility concerns, and opportunities for improvement.

· Participate in required trainings, workshops, seminars, and professional development opportunities.

· Maintain a professional appearance consistent with YMCA standards, including required staff shirt and name tag and appropriate attire.

· Report to scheduled shifts and programs on time and remain for the entire scheduled shift unless coverage has been properly arranged.

· Arrange appropriate coverage when unable to work and notify the supervisor of substitutions whenever possible. · Contribute to the success of overall Center operations and maintain a positive image of the YMCA.

· Demonstrate and model the YMCA’s four core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

· Work cooperatively and effectively with staff, volunteers, members, participants, and community partners.

· Focus on facility cleanliness during quieter court times.

· Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Education Requirements

· High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate Degree in Business, Recreation, Sports Management, Education, or a related field preferred.

· Minimum of one year of customer service, sales, recreation, hospitality, or related experience preferred.

· Knowledge of Pickleball rules, regulations, techniques, etiquette, and safety practices.

· Previous experience working with children and youth preferred.

· Previous experience working with diverse populations preferred. · Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Pickleball Den.

· Bilingual Spanish/English ability preferred.

· CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid certification required, or ability to obtain certification within the timeframe established by the YMCA. · Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during emergency and other challenging situations.

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within established YMCA policies and guidelines.

· Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and varying program schedules as required.

· Commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and positive experience for all YMCA members and participants.
