Job Description

Senior Fabrication Programmer - Amada, Trumpf, Yaskawa & Weld Fixtures

Location: Roanoke, TX
Job Type: Full-Time

About Us

We are a growing manufacturer of CNG fuel system components and assemblies utilizing advanced fabrication, robotic welding, automation, and tube-bending technologies. Our facility is equipped with industry-leading laser cutting, press brake, robotic welding, weld fixture, and automated tube fabrication systems to support the production of Type IV CNG tank assemblies.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Automation & Robotic Welding Programmer to lead fabrication programming, robotic welding, fixture development, and automation initiatives across our manufacturing operations.

Position Summary

This is a hands-on technical role responsible for programming and optimizing laser cutting, nesting, press brake forming, robotic welding, weld fixtures, and automated tube bending systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Amada and Trumpf lasers, SafanDarley and Trumpf press brakes, Yaskawa robotic welding systems, weld fixture development, and manufacturing automation.

The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Operations teams to support new product launches, improve productivity, and drive manufacturing excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Laser Programming & Nesting

  • Create and optimize CNC programs for Amada and Trumpf laser cutting systems.
  • Develop efficient nesting strategies to maximize material utilization.
  • Generate manufacturing programs from engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.
  • Reduce scrap and improve cutting efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot laser programming and production issues.

Press Brake Programming

  • Program and optimize SafanDarley and Trumpf press brakes.
  • Develop bending sequences and tooling strategies.
  • Verify manufacturability of new products.
  • Support setup reduction and process improvements.

Robotic Welding Programming

  • Program, teach, and optimize Yaskawa Motoman robotic welding cells.
  • Create production-ready welding programs using YRC1000 controllers.
  • Establish and maintain TCPs, user frames, tool frames, and work coordinates.
  • Configure weld schedules and welding parameters.
  • Optimize cycle times while maintaining weld quality and repeatability.
  • Troubleshoot robotic welding issues and production downtime.
  • Support commissioning of new robotic welding applications.

Weld Fixture Design & Development

  • Design, review, and improve weld fixtures and production tooling.
  • Develop robust locating and clamping strategies.
  • Ensure repeatability for robotic welding applications.
  • Improve fixture ergonomics, accessibility, and maintainability.
  • Support new product launches through fixture design validation.

Tube Bending Automation

  • Support and optimize our fully automated Transfluid tube bending cell.
  • Work with integrated dual KUKA robotic systems.
  • Support fabrication of tubing assemblies used in CNG Type IV fuel systems.
  • Troubleshoot robotic and automation issues.
  • Improve equipment uptime and productivity.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead manufacturing process improvements.
  • Improve quality, throughput, and equipment utilization.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Drive automation and productivity improvements throughout the facility.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fabrication programming and manufacturing automation.
  • Proven experience with:
    • Amada laser programming
    • Trumpf laser programming
    • SafanDarley press brake programming
    • Trumpf press brake programming
  • Strong experience programming Yaskawa Motoman YRC1000 welding robots.
  • Experience with robotic welding process development and optimization.
  • Experience designing, modifying, and troubleshooting weld fixtures.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and weld symbols.
  • Strong knowledge of MIG welding processes.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM and nesting software.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with KUKA robotic systems.
  • Experience with automated tube bending equipment.
  • Experience within sheet metal fabrication, automotive, heavy equipment, fuel systems, or CNG industries.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with offline robotic programming and simulation.
  • Project management experience.

  • Program Amada and Trumpf laser systems.
  • Optimize nests using SigmaNEST.
  • Program SafanDarley and Trumpf press brakes using SigmaBEND.
  • Develop and troubleshoot Yaskawa YRC1000 robotic welding programs.
  • Design and improve weld fixtures using Nucleo and CAD tools.
  • Support dual KUKA robotic tube bending automation.
  • Launch new products from engineering design through production.
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality, productivity, and automation.
