Position Summary
The Cyber Security Engineer II is a mid-level professional responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures for an organization's systems and data. They will play a critical role in protecting and securing corporate enterprise networks, applications, and data for a leading space and satellite manufacturing company. While the organization’s mission centers on advanced space technologies, this position specifically supports the corporate business unit focusing on enterprise IT systems, internal business applications, and corporate cybersecurity posture. Cyber Engineers are expected to start developing a subject matter expertise in one or more areas. The successful candidate will work closely with IT, security operations, compliance, and business stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain cybersecurity solutions that meet industry’s best practices and government compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, document and manage cybersecurity tools, technologies, and processes supporting enterprise corporate systems.
- Assist in managing Vulnerability Management Program including scanning, risk prioritization and remediation tracking
- Administer and optimize security technologies like SIEM, EDR and other relevant tools to support security incident detection, investigation, and response activities.
- Participate in Incident Response activities, including developing, testing, and maintaining playbooks and conducting root cause analysis.
- Maintain and improve security baseline policies, and procedures.
- Assist in security assessments, audits, and compliance activities.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to integrate security controls into business operations, applications, and projects from the ground up.
- Assist with cybersecurity training initiatives by developing and delivering cybersecurity awareness and training programs.
- Assess cybersecurity risks introduced by the adoption of AI systems into the organization
- Utilize automation to save time and become more efficient when monitoring alerts, conducting access reviews, resolving security incidents, and other aspects of their responsibilities.
- Perform access reviews to ensure adherence to least privilege principles
- Stay current with knowledge of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies relevant to corporate IT systems; recommend and implement security improvements in line with evolving threats and corporate needs.
- Monitor systems and networks for suspicious activity and indicators of compromise (IOCs)
Requirements
- Familiarity with identity and access management (IAM) principles and solutions.
- Relevant security certifications such as Security+, CySA+, CISSP, CEH, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, firewall management, and common security protocols.
- Active clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance
Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in cybersecurity engineering, security operations, or related IT security roles.
- Experience with securing cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, M365)
- Experience with enterprise standard security tools such as EDR, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and vulnerability management platforms
- Experience supporting security compliance frameworks such as CMMC, NIST, and CIS
- Experience in threat hunting and security incident and response activities. Knowledge of incident response frameworks and digital forensics methodologies.
- Experience with scripting or automation for security tasks (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex environments and recommend mitigations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and documentation.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master’s degree in information assurance, Cybersecurity, or related field preferred
- Security+ required (or obtained within 6 months); CISSP, CISM, or equivalent strongly preferred.

The pay range reflects the expected base salary for this position. Final compensation will be based on role, level, skills, experience, and geographic location.
