Overview

ITT Inc. is seeking a talented, energetic, and self-motivated trade professional with at least 10 years of relevant experience to lead the trade compliance team of the Flow Technologies (FT) Value Center and serve as Director, Trade Compliance, FT. This person is primarily responsible for ensuring the global export and import health of Flow Technologies through the implementation of strategies that provide direction and regulatory guidance to FT, ensuring compliance with the ITT Code of Conduct, policies, procedures, and U.S. and international export and import law.



Responsibilities

Position Responsibility:

Determines and communicates appropriate management accountability and responsibility for trade compliance. Interfaces regularly with Value Center (VC) and corporate leadership as well as the VC general counsel.

· Develops and implements global trade policy and strategy to the VC and provides regulatory guidance to all global IP locations.

· Directs the trade control infrastructure at all IP locations relative to:

o trade staff

o training/communications initiatives

o operational processes,

o export licensing/classification,

o export/import compliance

o trade policy

o export/import violation identification/disclosure

Specifically, the Trade Compliance Director:

· Designs and oversees the implementation of trade compliance programs and evaluates and monitors their effectiveness. Focuses on continuous improvement of trade compliance processes to drive efficiency and accuracy.

· Cultivates a high performing team by driving accountability, providing strategic direction, coaching and mentorship of the VC trade compliance professionals.

· Works collaboratively across other VC Trade Compliance teams to share expertise and strategy for managing complex compliance processes.

· Drives global alignment for tariff classification, country of origin and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN).

· Addresses denied party and sanction screening issues; escalates to leadership as needed.

· Oversees third party Customs brokers and agents to ensure consistent compliance standards across all global locations.

· Performs periodic internal audits to review, test, and evaluate the implementation of compliance directives ensuring each location’s compliance programs are effective and robust.

· Implement value creation initiatives throughout the value center by utilizing existing regulations to drive indirect tax savings. Evaluate and consider savings strategies as appropriate, such as the use of duty reduction programs, free trade zones, free trade agreements, etc.

· Provides for periodic formal training and on-going counsel to VC locations for global trade.

· Maintains expert-level knowledge of all applicable commercial trade legislation and regulations.

· Serves as a primary advisor for IP management groups for trade policy negotiations.

· Represents ITT and serves as a primary interface with Government agencies on trade and compliance issues related to FT operations

· This position at times will require 25-35% travel.



Qualifications

Position Requirements:

Undergraduate degree in applicable discipline. Blackbelt, LEAN, Six Sigma expertise and strong project management skills a plus.

· At least ten years of applicable experience in trade compliance is required.

· Expert-level knowledge of principles, theories, concepts and industry practices applicable to ethics and export/import compliance programs.

· People management experience.

· Versatility and maturity with the ability to build relationships and act as a trusted partner; confident (not arrogant).

· Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate, assess, and quantify risk objectively, and to develop appropriate strategies to mitigate.

· Strong communication skills (written/oral).

· Must demonstrate highest levels of ownership and accountability; works independently – initiates and coordinates projects, as needed.

· A willingness to learn and dive into the details is required.

· Maturity and ability to function independently.

Additional Qualifications:

Influence: Negotiation and motivation skills are essential. Successful candidate will be able to motivate others towards business goals, using a range of influencing skills and

strategies as the situation requires. Candidate will have a global scope and view of the Value Center business strategy and understand how GTP’s can best support growth initiatives.

Effective Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. The successful candidate effectively conveys ideas and messages both formally and

informally, in speaking and in writing. The candidate must be able to deliver clear, concise, accurate, articulate and persuasive written and oral messages, supply supporting facts as necessary and be adept at tailoring their communication to their audience. Strong presentation skills are an imperative.

Conflict Management: The successful candidate will have highly refined skills enabling him/her to bring differences to closure while maintaining credibility and composure. He/she encourages healthy debate as a constructive part of the decision-making process and uses collaborative techniques to resolve conflict.

Integrity: High ethical standards and a strong moral compass are imperative. Honesty, credibility, a strong sense of responsibility and the will to follow through on commitments are critical attributes in this position.

This position requires access to technology, software and other information that is subject to governmental access control restrictions, due to export controls and/or designation as Controlled Unclassified Information. Employment in this position is conditioned on the

continued availability of government authorization to authorize release of such items, to the extent required, including without limitation an export license or other documentation required to establish authorization to receive access to such items.
