WebSphere Administrator (Liberty & Traditional WAS) in Manhattan, New York at Manhattan, New York

CTG is seeking a WebSphere Administrator to support production middleware infrastructure and the phased rollout of enterprise applications. This role involves hands-on administration, troubleshooting, and collaboration with application and infrastructure teams.

Expected base salary: $135,000–$145,000 annually

• Install, configure, and maintain IBM WebSphere Application Server Traditional (tWAS) and WebSphere Liberty on Linux or UNIX.

• Manage WebSphere Liberty configurations, including server.xml, bootstrap.properties, and jvm.options.

• Support production applications, perform upgrades and patches, and troubleshoot middleware and Java errors.

• Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and document symptoms and solutions.

• Use Git and tools such as Ansible for configuration management and deployments.

• Coordinate with technical teams, prioritize work, and provide project status updates.

• Support systems operating around the clock, including night and weekend work when required.

• 5+ years of middleware administration experience, particularly with tWAS and WebSphere Liberty.

• Experience with Ansible, Git, and middleware deployment automation.

• Experience with Jenkins, CloudBees, or similar CI/CD tools.

• Familiarity with Configuration as Code and DevOps practices.

• Experience administering IBM MQ, IBM HTTP Server, IBM WebSphere Message Broker, Oracle WebLogic, or Cognos.

• Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL.

• Experience supporting large enterprise environments.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Candidates must meet one of the following:

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field and 4 years of relevant full-time experience in data center operations, cloud operations, or complex IT infrastructure engineering;

• A bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant full-time experience in those areas; or

• An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills and the ability to work professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $135,000.00 to $145,000.00 annually. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
