Position Summary

TheUNM Department of Anthropologyanticipateshiring Adjunct Faculty to teachundergraduate and graduate level coursesin theFall2026, Spring2027, andSummer2027Semesters.

Anticipated openingswill be for Adjuncts who can teach courses in a broad range of subject areas, including but not limited to thefollowingsubject areas:

Archaeology

Evolutionary Anthropology

General Anthropology

Medical Anthropology

Public Archaeology

Sociocultural and Linguistic Anthropology

TheUNMAnthropology Departmentis seeking qualified temporarypart timefaculty members to teachundergraduate and/orgraduate level classes in various disciplines as specified above. Instructorsare responsible forall aspects of any class they are teaching. Responsibilities will includebut notbelimited to meeting with the class during assigned times,delivering the course curriculum,developingand grading assignments, reporting grades, and assessingstudent learningoutcomesas outlined by theChair of the department.

Positions are contingent upon need each semester asdeterminedby student enrollment levels, courses on the current course schedule,funding,and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled oreliminatedeach semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to theChairof theUNM Anthropology Department.

Qualifications

MinimumQualifications:

To teach courses as described above aredeterminedby Higher Learning Commissions accreditation requirements for faculty, and must be met by one of these ways:

An earned doctorate from an accredited institutionin Anthropologyorthesubfield for which you are applying;

Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years professional experience inthespecializationor subfield;

Successful experience teaching courses using avariety of teaching modalities (such asFace-to-Face, Remote, and Fully Online);

A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university s mission to serve local and global communities.
