Position Summary
-
Under the general supervision of the Manager of the unit, the Resource Coordinator Tech is responsible for facilitating, coordinating in conjunction with health care teams, staffing, supplies/equipment, and patient flow/scheduling as a charge agent. Develop, motivate, assess, and negotiate as a charge agent in an effort to enhance organizational effectiveness. The Resource Coordinator Tech assists in coordination and delivery of patient care in the surgical suite to care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients based on current standards of practice. Willingly performs assigned role as directed by Manager. The Resource Coordinator Tech promotes collaboration and acts as a liaison between all members of the multi-disciplinary health care team, and actively participates in unit and system wide committees. Demonstrates strong preceptor and mentoring skills. In addition to providing patient care by performing surgical scrubbing tasks and assisting the RN with circulating duties, the Resource Coordinator Tech maintains supply levels within the specialty and assists the Manager in the overall function of the service line. Provides courteous customer services to personnel utilizing the services of this department. Maintains open communication and is available to component organizations and practitioner sites for consultation.

Core Job Functions
- Implement AORN standards of care using best practice. Implement hospital policies and procedures.
- Participates in operational and capital budgeting. Eliminates waste. Uses resources wisely.
- Coordinates schedule with posting, anesthesia, surgeons and staff. Uses resources wisely. Promotes on time starts.
- Participates in service planning and development using knowledge of industry trends. Takes administrative call. Supports change initiatives. Keeps manager informed of department activities. Takes administrative call.
- Takes initiative to review unit/departmental customer or co-worker satisfaction scores as posted in unit. Promotes measures to improve customer/co-worker satisfaction scores. Consistently demonstrates behaviors that promote excellent patient experiences.
- Assists in the recommendation and selection of outside vendors. Works with the Vendor Management Office to monitor vendor performance and identify issues. Assists in identifying the need for additional vendors.
- Maintains expenses within budget. Maintains resources needed to do the job available. Oversees and manages productivity of the front lines co-workers.
