Sr. Director, Technical Program Management - 838

Quantinuum is seeking a senior level leader to lead execution across Quantinuum’s Compute Platform Group. This role will be responsible for driving alignment between engineering and technical teams, product, and business teams to deliver complex, quantum computing platforms on time to our customers. The ideal candidate combines deep technical acumen with exceptional leadership and program management expertise, ensuring timely delivery of high-impact initiatives in a rapidly evolving industry. This role will have a global team of program managers.

Key responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Continually refine and implement product management framework aligned with product development process that enables predictable delivery of quantum hardware, software, and integrated solutions.
  • Partner with product and business team to understand product roadmaps and translate into actionable projects and program to be managed by you and your team.
  • Intuition to understand the business strategies and business objectives and then autonomously convene the right teams to quickly mobile and take action
  • Work closely with external customers on the execution of strategic projects and initiatives.

Program Execution:

  • This will be a player/coach role, meaning you will both oversee the Program Management organization and be directly responsible for the technical and financial execution of large strategy projects
  • Lead the PMO team to be accountable, hands-on, and integral for delivering on our roadmap and on customer-funded efforts.
  • Oversee multi-disciplinary programs spanning quantum hardware, control systems, software stacks, error correction, and integration with cloud and hybrid compute resources.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across engineering, research, product management, and operations teams.
  • Manage dependencies, risks, and trade-offs in highly complex technical environments.
  • Lead proposal efforts from strategy setting to proposal execution of both financial and technical volumes.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive team ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Communicate program status, risks, and mitigation strategies to executive leadership and external partners.
  • Be a partner to cross-functional stakeholders in finance, legal, supply chain, HR, and sales.

Team Development:

  • Build and mentor a performance culture for program management organization.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Build a performance culture where program managers are active hands-on partners to the technical teams and are integral to product delivery.
YOU MUST HAVE:
  • Bachelor’s degree minimum
  • Minimum 15+ years in program management
  • At least 10 years leading large, customer funded efforts.
  • At least 5 years of direct management experience
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status.
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.
WE VALUE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Natural leader with the ability to inspire team to meet challenging commitments, showing both empathy while holding accountability
  • Bias for action: having a business-level intuition about what-is-needed and when to grow and move the company forward
  • Day-to-day experience delivering effective, transparent communications with all levels of the organization and tailored to the right audience, including executive stakeholders. A regular practitioner of good communication hygiene is preparing talking points and key messaging ahead of communicating any major news.
  • Prior experience in quantum computing is preferred, but regardless, you’ll need to be a self-learner and come up the learning curve very fast
  • Being a holistic thinker, being able to view and consider information from multiple angles, multiple points of view
  • Experience with government and commercial proposals and contract negotiations
  • Experience with costing proposals and writing basis of estimates
  • Experience with intellectual property protection strategies
  • Expert level financial acumen with previous experience understanding project financials and translating project plans into high fidelity financial plans and forecasts
  • Experience translating project scopes into milestones and KPIs to track progress
  • Ability to effectively and independently lead and navigate through ambiguity
  • Experience working with diverse cross-functional stakeholders and being part of an IPT
Compensation & Benefits:
Incentive Eligible – Range posted is inclusive of bonus target
The pay range for this role is $280,000 – $350,000 annually. Actual compensation within this range may vary based on the candidate’s skills, educational background, professional experience, and unique qualifications for the role.
