The Buyer is responsible for procuring materials, supplies, and outside processing services to support production schedules and company objectives related to quality, cost, delivery, and customer satisfaction. This role works closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely procurement, cost efficiency, and uninterrupted operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Scope & ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities- Perform assigned duties in accordance with documented procedures and work instructions.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders for materials, supplies, and outside processing services in alignment with procurement strategies, production schedules, and management directives.
- Review open purchase order reports and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
- Resolve discrepancies related to purchase orders, delivery schedules, pricing, or invoicing in a timely manner.
- Identify and communicate potential supply chain issues that may impact customer delivery schedules.
- Monitor supplier pricing and identify opportunities for cost savings and procurement efficiencies.
- Research and evaluate procurement sources to ensure competitive pricing, availability, and supply continuity.
- Build and maintain positive supplier relationships through ongoing communication and supplier performance monitoring.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing and supply chain processes.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records within ERP systems and company databases.
- Collaborate with internal departments including Production, Quality, Engineering, and Accounting as needed.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of four (4) years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Experience in aerospace or precision sheet metal manufacturing preferred.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and purchasing processes required.
- APICS knowledge or certification strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of supply chain principles and procurement practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and general computer systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated and dependable.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Team-oriented with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Work environment includes office and manufacturing floor settings.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent use of computers, keyboards, and monitors.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
