Description:

The Institutional Giving Manager is responsible for leading and managing the organization’s institutional fundraising efforts, including foundation, corporate, and government grants, to support strategic priorities and long-term sustainability. The role develops and executes fundraising strategies, manages a portfolio of institutional funders, and identifies new funding opportunities aligned with organizational needs. This position oversees the full grant lifecycle, including prospect research, proposal development, submission, compliance, and reporting. The Institutional Giving Manager collaborates cross-functionally with program, finance, and executive leadership to develop competitive proposals and ensure alignment with funder requirements. The role also builds and maintains strong external relationships with funders and stakeholders while ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant management of all grant activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive institutional giving strategies to secure foundation, corporate, and government funding aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Lead the full grant lifecycle, including prospect research, proposal development, submission, reporting, and compliance with all funder requirements.
  • Manage and grow relationships with institutional funders by cultivating partnerships, stewarding existing grants, and identifying opportunities for renewal and increased investment.
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with program, finance, and executive leadership to develop competitive proposals, budgets, and supporting materials that ensure timely and accurate submissions.

  • Develop and implement institutional fundraising strategies to increase grant revenue and support organizational priorities.
  • Manage a portfolio of foundation, corporate, and government funders, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
  • Identify, research, and pursue new institutional funding opportunities aligned with programmatic, capital, and strategic needs.
  • Lead prospect research, funding pipeline development, and grant opportunity tracking using CRM and research tools.
  • Develop, write, and submit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and other funding requests in alignment with funder requirements.
  • Coordinate proposal development across departments, including gathering programmatic, financial, and supporting documentation.
  • Develop grant budgets and financial narratives in collaboration with finance and program leadership.
  • Manage grant calendars, submission deadlines, and workflows to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Ensure compliance with all grant requirements, including reporting, documentation, and audit support, and prepare and submit required reports.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional funders and collaborate with program, finance, and executive leadership to advance funding initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
Requirements:

Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in grant writing, institutional giving, fundraising, nonprofit management, communications, public administration, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated success securing foundation, corporate, government, or other institutional grant funding.
  • Demonstrated success managing a portfolio of grants and funders while consistently meeting deadlines and reporting requirements.
  • Experience managing multiple deadlines, complex projects, and cross-functional collaborations.
  • Experience developing grant budgets, financial narratives, reports, and supporting documentation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong research, analytical, and strategic thinking skills with the ability to identify and pursue funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex programs, outcomes, and financial information into compelling grant proposals and reports.
  • Strong understanding of grant development, compliance, reporting, and institutional fundraising best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with a high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with funders, colleagues, community partners, and organizational leadership.
  • Strong project management skills, including coordinating cross-functional teams and complex proposal development processes.
  • Proficiency with grant management software, donor databases, CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and related technology tools.
  • Strong financial literacy, including the ability to develop and interpret grant budgets and financial narratives.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
