Job Description
We are seeking a systems-first finance leader to own both our financial planning function and the treasury operations of a multi-entity real estate portfolio. This is a high-visibility role reporting to the CFO and sitting as a peer to the Controller. It lives at the intersection of strategic, forward-looking finance and scalable cash operations.
Read this part carefully, because it defines the role. We are a systems-first company. This is not a seat that executes daily cash operations by hand, and it is not a seat that will be supported by analysts doing that work manually. It is a seat that figures out how the daily work should run itself — automated bank feeds, sweep structures, payment workflows, and exception-based monitoring — and then spends the freed capacity on the forward-looking planning that actually moves the business. We are hiring an architect of a treasury machine, not an operator of a manual one. You will not be on the hook for the engineering: we have a dedicated app architect who builds and wires our tools into our systems. Your job is to define the problem, design the solution, and specify it clearly — typically as a short white paper covering what the tool needs to do, what problem it solves, and how it should work — and then partner with the architect who makes it real. The right candidate is equally comfortable designing a long-range financial model and writing the spec for an automated control that approves a wire without a human keying it.
And one more thing that genuinely sets this role apart. We believe AI isn’t replacing finance roles — it’s changing them. It doesn’t replace judgment; it is a force multiplier that lets a sharp person apply their judgment to a wider range of work, faster. So fluency with AI tools is not a nice-to-have here; it is central to how this seat operates. We would rather hire someone with a shorter track record who has worked deeply with AI and knows how to build it into a business than a long-tenured veteran who won’t touch it. If you have figured out how to make these tools do real work — not just draft emails, but automate workflows and multiply your own output — this is a place that will let you run with it.
Key Responsibilities
Treasury Systems & Architecture
• Design, specify, and own the company’s treasury infrastructure so routine cash operations run through automated, controlled systems rather than manual effort. You define what the systems must do and how the processes should work; our app architect handles the build and integration. Reducing manual touch in treasury is a standing objective of the role, not a one-time project.
• Implement and administer cash management within Sage Intacct, including automated bank feeds and reconciliation, so daily cash positioning is a dashboard view rather than a manual compilation.
• Architect a concentration / sweep account structure to collapse monitoring across the multi-entity, multi-bank portfolio into a single view — within the account-separation requirements our LIHTC, HUD, and lenders mandate (operating, reserves, replacement reserves, escrows).
• Specify automated payment workflows (ACH, wire, and the AP payment processor) with embedded approval routing and segregation-of-duties controls — defining the system that approves and executes within policy, rather than approving each transaction by hand.
• Define the treasury control framework and authorization matrix. Payment approval operates through that matrix with appropriate segregation of duties; the Controller retains independent approval authority at defined thresholds. Establish exception-based monitoring so human attention goes to anomalies, not routine activity.
• Own banking relationships as primary point of contact with financial institutions, and lead platform/TMS selection and implementation.
Cash Forecasting & Liquidity Planning
• Build automated daily and weekly cash position reporting across all accounts — systematized through feeds and dashboards, not manually compiled.
• Build and continuously refine a short-term (13-week) rolling cash flow forecast.
• Develop longer-term (annual and multi-year) cash flow models to support strategic planning and liquidity management.
• Track and forecast intercompany and cross-account cash movements across entities; coordinate timing of transfers to optimize liquidity.
• Identify cash shortfalls or surpluses in advance and recommend corrective actions.
Financial Planning & Analysis
• Lead the annual budgeting process and quarterly reforecasting cycles.
• Partner with department heads to develop bottoms-up operating plans and variance analyses.
• Build and maintain financial models to support business decisions, scenario analysis, and strategic initiatives.
• Prepare management reporting packages — including KPI dashboards, budget-vs.-actual analysis, and executive summaries.
• Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and surface actionable insights for senior leadership.
• Support M&A diligence, capital allocation analysis, and ad hoc strategic projects as needed.
Requirements:Required
• Demonstrated fluency building AI into financial workflows. Not “I use ChatGPT” — evidence that you have used AI tools to automate real work, build or accelerate models and reporting, and multiply your own output. Be ready to show what you have built. This is the headline requirement of the role.
• Sound financial judgment and control discipline. AI multiplies competence; it does not substitute for it. You know when a model is wrong, what a control failure looks like, and why segregation of duties matters — this seat can move money, so this is non-negotiable.
• 5+ years of relevant experience across FP&A / corporate finance and treasury, or a demonstrated ability to deliver at that level. We weight capability and AI fluency over raw tenure — a shorter track record is no barrier if you can do the work.
• A track record of diagnosing process problems and specifying the systems to solve them — the ability to take a messy financial process and produce a clear, build-ready specification. You can prototype or build your own tools (a strong plus, because it makes you a sharper spec-writer), but you will not be required to — our app architect handles implementation.
• Strong financial modeling skills and advanced Excel; comfort designing reporting and dashboards.
• Experience designing payment workflows and approval controls (ACH, wire, AP / payment-processor integrations) in a multi-entity, multi-bank environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Preferred
• Experience in real estate, affordable housing (LIHTC), senior living, or development finance — our portfolio spans all of these across 30+ entities.
• Sage Intacct experience (our ERP), including the cash management module and dimensional reporting; experience implementing or optimizing an ERP or treasury management system.
• Experience building 13-week cash forecasts and budgeting processes from scratch.
• CTP (Certified Treasury Professional) or CFA designation.
• Familiarity with NACHA / ACH rules and wire-transfer compliance requirements.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $110,000.
Benefits: a generous paid-time-off package, plus medical, dental, and vision insurance.
