Description:

The Senior Manager, Facilities provides strategic day-to-day leadership and operational excellence for the Facilities department. This role is accountable for safe, compliant, and reliable facility operations in a cGMP-regulated environment, with particular emphasis on cold-chain integrity and temperature-controlled storage that underpins Sentry BioPharma Services’ global supply chain. The Senior Manager oversees multiple functional teams, manages key vendor relationships, drives continuous improvement and scalability, and serves as a key contributor to departmental strategy, budgeting, and cross-functional initiatives. This position reports directly to the Director, Facilities.

Requirements: Tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Lead operational leadership and oversight of the Facilities department, including but not limited to Validation (Commissioning & Qualification, Calibration, Metrology), BMS, Site Security, Maintenance, Janitorial, and Project Management functions across U.S. sites.
  • Ensure full cGMP, FDA, EMA, DEA, CBP and other regulatory compliance, including readiness for audits and inspections.
  • Lead the development, review, and updating of Facilities department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); collaborate with Quality Assurance and other departments/stakeholders to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and operational best practices.
  • Oversee validation activities, including commissioning and qualification (C&Q) of controlled environments, equipment, and critical systems.
  • Oversee calibration programs for critical monitoring and controlling equipment to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance.
  • Oversee data analytics for temperature trending, tolerances, and environmental monitoring to support product integrity and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership and direct support to Building Management System (BMS) personnel, ensuring compliance, data integrity, continuous improvement, and reliable environmental monitoring and control.
  • Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance programs, facility inspections, and critical systems (HVAC, cold storage, utilities, etc.) to maintain temperature-controlled integrity and product safety.
  • Drive successful project outcomes by setting clear expectations with stakeholders, rigorously managing timelines, and ensuring timely completion of facilities initiatives and capital projects.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor Facilities personnel; conduct performance reviews and support talent development.
  • Lead recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new Facilities personnel to support departmental growth and operational needs.
  • Drive optimization and daily administration of the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and all related maintenance documentation and work-order processes.
  • Own departmental budgets, forecasting, cost control, and purchase orders for supplies, parts, and services.
  • Oversee administration of security systems, access control, credentials, and physical security programs.
  • Manage vendors, contractors, and service providers while ensuring adherence to safety, GMP, and company policies.
  • Serve as the key escalation point for facilities emergencies and alarms (temperature, security, environmental, etc.), providing higher-level resolution and decision-making support.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, implement best practices, and leverage technology (CMMS, BMS, automation) to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, Lab Services, and other departments to minimize disruptions and support business objectives.
  • Actively participate in senior leadership meetings, strategic planning, and budgeting processes.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director, Facilities.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 5–8+ years of progressive facilities or maintenance leadership experience required.
  • Previous experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or highly regulated GMP environments strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-functional teams and managing multi-site operations.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CFM, HVAC, GMP training) a plus.
