Billing and Authorization Assistant: in Chicago, Illinois at ASSOCIATION HOUSE OF CHICAGO

Responsible for the accurate and timely entering of billing for the division which includes physician and behavioral health services. Works with staff and program supervisors to make claim corrections, submit registration and discharge information. Maintains up-to-date insurance eligibility information by participant. Communicates with agency, DHS, DASA, HFS and MCO staff to

identify and correct problems that may occur. Assists in keeping accurate records to support each stage of the billing cycle and generating reports to substantiate these steps. Tracks authorization hours and assists in authorization tasks to ensure continuity of services to participants.

• High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate required, AA or advanced certificate of training preferred.
• One year of experience in billing and/or bookkeeping, preferably in a social service setting. Billing coding experience and/or training preferred.
• Computer data entry experience required. Experience using electronic records and/ or billing software preferred. Must be able to master all computer software applications necessary to complete billing efficiently.
