Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Head of Finance based in the United States.
This is a foundational finance leadership role at a rapidly scaling, AI-native technology company.
You will be the first full-time finance leader, partnering closely with the COO and executive team.
The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on ownership across FP&A, accounting, revenue, and operations.
You will build the financial infrastructure, processes, and reporting systems needed to support the next stage of growth.
You will also partner with Product and Go-to-Market teams on pricing, packaging, deal strategy, and monetization.
As the company scales, you will use automation and AI to streamline repetitive finance work and increase operational leverage.
This is a high-impact opportunity for a builder who wants to shape the finance function from the ground up.
- Own the finance function across financial planning and analysis, accounting operations, reporting, revenue processes, and financial controls, establishing scalable processes that support rapid growth.
- Lead monthly and quarterly close activities, consolidations, and reconciliations while producing timely, accurate investor and board reporting covering metrics such as ARR, NRR, retention, cash, and overall financial performance.
- Establish quarterly budgets, manage rolling forecasts, conduct unit economics analysis, and monitor actual performance against the full P&L plan.
- Develop and maintain revenue recognition policies and processes, including ASC 606 requirements, deal reviews, control evidence, external audit support, and SOC 2 readiness.
- Build and optimize quote-to-cash operations spanning order management, invoicing, collections, cash application, and credit risk, with a focus on reducing DSO and operational exceptions.
- Own deal desk processes, including discounting guardrails, approval policies, and non-standard deal reviews in partnership with Product, Go-to-Market, and Legal teams.
- Partner with Product and Go-to-Market leadership to develop, test, and measure pricing and packaging strategies, creating an ongoing monetization experimentation framework.
- Establish and improve sales compensation processes and programs, ensuring accurate, efficient, and scalable administration.
- Build effective integrations and workflows across ERP, billing, CRM, and data systems, including Rillet, Stripe, Snowflake, and HubSpot.
- Introduce AI-powered automation and agents to reduce repetitive finance activities, improve efficiency, and enable the team to focus on higher-value strategic decisions.
- Establish finance policies, operating rhythms, documentation, and controls that create a strong foundation for continued organizational growth.
- Serve as a strategic partner across departments, translating financial data into actionable insights and helping leadership make informed business decisions.
- Develop the finance function over time, establishing the systems, processes, and capabilities required to support a larger and more sophisticated organization.
- 8+ years of experience in SaaS finance or accounting, with demonstrated ownership of end-to-end quote-to-cash and revenue recognition processes.
- Proven experience building or managing deal desk operations and sales compensation programs.
- Strong understanding of SaaS financial metrics, forecasting, budgeting, revenue recognition, unit economics, and cash management.
- Demonstrated success improving financial close processes, forecasting accuracy, DSO, and broader finance operations.
- Strong process and policy development skills, with the ability to create practical, scalable frameworks in a fast-growing environment.
- Experience partnering effectively with Product, Go-to-Market, Legal, and other cross-functional teams.
- Strong operational mindset with the ability to move between strategic planning and hands-on execution.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and customers across multiple functions and time zones.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, with a high degree of ownership and accountability.
- CPA certification is preferred but not required.
- A college degree is not required; demonstrated relevant experience and capability are valued.
- Experience with product-led growth and monetization experimentation is a plus.
- Familiarity with SOC 2 audits, control evidence, and compliance processes is a plus.
- Hands-on experience integrating ERP, billing, CRM, and data platforms is a plus.
- Experience working in an AI-native or highly automated technology environment is advantageous.
