JOB SUMMARY
This Part-Time position is responsible for designing and implementing programs that promote growth and
development for children and adolescents while providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Primary Responsibilities:
• Create and run programs focused on areas such as academics, sports, arts, and community
services.
• Create lesson plans using the New York State Education Guidelines, to engage and enhance the
academic, social, and emotional well-being of program participants.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise events such as field trips, workshops, and mentorship sessions.
• Create personalized support plans and assess the specific needs and goals of each program
participant and make recommendations for improvement.
• Provide one-on-one guidance, role modeling, and encouragement to build life skills and develop
positive behaviors for program participants.
• Provide academic assistance, connect youth to job training, and offer career counseling.
• Build partnerships with community organizations and schools to expand resources and
opportunities for youth and educate participants and families about community services and
opportunities.
• Assist youth to express feelings, build communication skills, and develop emotional intelligence in a
supportive environment.
• Collaborate with parents, family members, and other organizations to support overall well-being and
achievement.
• Foster a safe and inclusive environment.
• Offer support and assistance during times of crisis or difficulty.
• Maintain accurate records of participants’ progress, activities, and program data.
• Complete and maintain records for all required trainings through OCFS (Office of Children and
Family Services) and Youth Services Department
• Maintain timely, accurate, and complete records, documentation, and reports in accordance with
program, agency, and regulatory requirements.
Secondary Responsibilities:
• Must present a professional image in conduct, attitude, and attire.
• Satisfactory completion of mandatory trainings.
• Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Minimum of one (1) year experience working with youth in an accredited youth program
• Must have First Aid/CPR AED Certification within 90 days of hire date.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Physical Demands:
• Requires sustained physical activity, including leading recreational and educational programs.
• Participate in indoor and outdoor activities adapting to various environments.
• Requires high emotional demands.
• Must be able to lift/move up to 25 pounds.
• These physical requirements are representative but not exhaustive.
Application Requirements:
• Physical examination record or pass physical examination by a CAO physician
• Valid NYS Driver’s License and proof of motor vehicle insurance coverage
• Completion of the following documents:
o CAO Employment application
o NYS SCR Clearance Form with acceptable clearance
o Criminal Record Certification and free of criminal convictions of crimes against children
(misdemeanor or felony)
o Fingerprinting required.
o Release for Reference Checks
