Position Summary:
The Quality Engineering Specialist executes and supports established quality processes across additive manufacturing, machining, and post-processing operations, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards through effective inspection, documentation, and process adherence. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the role contributes to data accuracy, product conformance, and continuous improvement within daily quality operations.
Working across additive manufacturing, CNC machining, and post-processing, this position performs inspection and measurement activities, maintains documentation and traceability, and supports audits and root cause investigations using fundamental quality tools.
This role requires solid knowledge of quality systems and inspection methods, strong attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams to ensure product conformance to specifications in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance
- Execute established quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with AS9100D, ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and NADCAP standards across daily operations.
- Maintain documentation control, calibration tracking, and Quality Management System records in accordance with internal procedures.
- Support internal and external audits, including preparation, data collection, and corrective action follow-up.
Quality Engineering
- Create and maintain quality plans for additive manufacturing, CNC machining, and post-processing operations for standard additive manufacturing parts.
- Perform basic Statistical Process Control and First Article Inspections to monitor process trends.
- Support root cause analysis using fundamental quality tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, and 8D, and assist in corrective and preventive action implementation.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams to ensure product conformance to specifications.
Supplier Quality Engineering
- Verify incoming materials and components for conformance against specifications.
- Participate in supplier audits and maintain supplier performance tracking records.
- Monitor supplier corrective actions and maintain related documentation.
Quality Control
- Operate inspection and measurement tools including gauges, CMM, and 3D scanners to perform in-process and final inspection in accordance with quality plans.
- Conduct visual, dimensional, and mechanical checks, record data, and report non-conformances.
- Prepare or review inspection reports, First Article Inspection reports, and Non-Conformance Records, maintaining full traceability throughout.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in continuous improvement projects and propose improvement ideas.
- Collect and analyze data on yield, scrap, and defect trends.
- Support continuous improvement events including related training sessions and maintain related documentation.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment; aerospace or precision machining experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100D standards and the related audit process.
- Familiarity with ISO 17025 and NADCAP requirements is preferred.
- Good working knowledge of quality tools such as Statistical Process Control and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
- Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma principles at a Yellow Belt level.
- Proficient in operating inspection equipment including CMM; familiarity with Zeiss Calypso software is an asset.
- Proficient in GD&T, with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand how tolerancing concepts relate to part functionality.
- Knowledge and experience of optical 3D scan metrology software such as Zeiss ATOS is an asset.
- Understanding of QMS documentation and calibration processes.
Education and Professional Attributes
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering, or a related technical discipline, is required.
- CQI or CQE certification and internal audit certification are preferred.
- Works effectively within teams and supports peers, collaborating openly across quality, engineering, and operations functions.
- Communicates clearly and documents findings accurately, taking ownership and accountability for assigned quality tasks.

Pay Range:
The expected base salary range for this position is $57,500 - $72,000 CAD annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills, experience, education, and qualifications. This position is also eligible to participate in the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
