Job Overview:

Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is seeking a new Mental Health Worker to join their Therapeutic Learning Center team!

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor s Degree in Psychology, Sociology or related field preferred or a bachelor’s degree with one year prior relevant work experience interacting with patients and community
• Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

• One year prior relevant work experience interacting with patients and community

Scheduling Requirements

• Per Diem
• Day shift

Essential Functions:

• Facilitation of daily activity groups in program
• Provides case management and maintaining regular collateral contact with agencies, school and families, adhering to confidentiality policies
• Participates in the implementation of treatment plans and discharge plans
• MHA will participate in annual facility and department specific competency trainings
• Able to identify or label patient's emotions
• Can identify emotional and physical signs of abuse and neglect
• Establish a reasonable system of limits and rules that is clearly understood and consistently maintained
• Performs all other duties as assigned
• Plans and implements activities to promote emotional and cognitive growth
• Provides close supervision to ensure patient's safety at all times
• Reports suspected abuse as determined by state and federal laws
• Select appropriate themes/activities based on assessment data and the developmental/emotional and behavioral level of the patient
• Speaks distinctly with appropriate volume and inflection
• Takes appropriate action to document and report suspected abuse
