Lesley University's Department of Business is seeking a highly qualified adjunct faculty member to teach: CBUSN 1610 - Sports Management; Fall Semester 2026; Mondays/Wednesdays from 9:35 am - 10:50 am; In-person, On-campus.

Course Description:
This course examines the business, cultural, and strategic dimensions of the modern sport industry. Students will explore how sport organizations operate within an increasingly global, data-driven, and socially conscious environment, bridging theoretical concepts with real-world practice. Topics will include athlete branding, Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights, esports, sports analytics, media partnerships, and the growing influence of technology and private equity in sport. Through case studies, applied projects, and interactive discussions, students will analyze key functions of sport management, including marketing, operations, governance, finance, and leadership across professional, collegiate, and emerging sport sectors. This course will emphasize ethical decision-making, diversity and inclusion, and the evolving expectations of fans, athletes, and other stakeholders. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to think critically about the future of the sport industry, evaluate strategic opportunities, and apply management frameworks to real-world challenges, preparing them for internships, careers, and leadership roles in sport.

A successful candidate will have:

• Master's degree in Business, Sports Management, Sports Leadership, or a closely related field (required); PhD or terminal degree (preferred)

• Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level

• Prior experience in the sports or athletics industry preferred

• Experience in constructivist inquiry-based learning with the ability to teach concepts in ways that are accessible, relevant, and engaging

• Experience using learning management systems and educational technology to support teaching and learning

• Excellent verbal and communication skills
