Pharmacy Technician, Care Team

Accountabilities:

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a key role in supporting members, providers, and pharmacies by delivering accurate, efficient, and empathetic assistance across multiple communication channels. You will manage pharmacy-related inquiries, coordinate with internal teams, and ensure every interaction contributes to a seamless healthcare experience.

  • Serve as the primary support contact for members, providers, and pharmacies through phone, chat, email, and written communication.
  • Resolve questions related to pharmacy benefits, medication costs, formulary coverage, prior authorizations, claims, and prescription processing.
  • Assist pharmacies with claims review and ensure transactions align with benefit guidelines and contract requirements.
  • Support clinical teams with patient outreach, appointment scheduling, program enrollment, and medication adherence initiatives.
  • Document interactions, resolutions, and follow-up actions accurately within internal systems to support compliance, quality assurance, and reporting.
  • Take ownership of issues from initial inquiry through resolution while collaborating with internal teams when additional support is required.
  • Use AI-enabled tools and knowledge platforms to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in member support.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team environment and support additional operational projects as needed.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate combines pharmacy knowledge, customer service skills, and strong attention to detail to help members navigate complex healthcare processes. You should be comfortable managing multiple priorities while providing thoughtful, solution-oriented support.

  • Active and current National Pharmacy Technician Certification through PTCB or NHA required.
  • 1–3 years of pharmacy technician experience in a health plan, retail pharmacy, PBM contact center, TPA, mail order, or specialty pharmacy environment.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy claims adjudication, benefit structures, formularies, and PBM terminology.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes and resolve issues beyond surface-level symptoms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine commitment to providing empathetic, high-quality service.
  • Ability to manage multiple communication channels, including phone, chat, and email queues, while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to support changing priorities, business needs, and service requirements.
  • Comfort working independently while contributing positively within a collaborative team environment.
