Job Description
About Golden Analytics
Golden Analytics is an AI-native BI platform built for data teams who are tired of the tradeoffs in today's tools -- the depth of self-service analytics tools without the rigidity, the accessibility of a modern design tool, and AI that actually augments how analysts work rather than getting in the way.
Ready to build the future of analytics? Let's talk.
The Role
You love analytics and you love helping people solve real problems with it. You believe a new golden era of analytics is here, and you are genuinely excited about what AI can bring to how organizations use their data. You get the same charge from sitting with one customer and cracking their hardest problem as you do from sharing what you learned with the wider world.
You secure the technical win. You will learn Golden deeply, starting alongside Francois, until you know the platform cold and can own the technical evaluation with prospects and partners: the demo that makes a skeptical data team lean in, the proof of concept against a real Snowflake or Databricks environment, the hard architectural questions about governance and how Golden fits a modern stack instead of fighting it.
You embed in our biggest deployments. As enterprise deals land, you go inside the customer as a forward deployed analyst: modeling their real data in Golden, building the first analyses that matter to them, and driving the deployment to genuine adoption in their environment. This is where trials become expanding accounts and where our best proof comes from.
You are a face for Golden beyond the room you are in. Being a public voice energizes you, and you want an audience wider than the customer in front of you. You share what you learn inside Golden with the greater data community: talks, videos, how-tos, and working with product to tell the story of new releases and features. Not marketing gloss. The kind of practical, credible perspective a data practitioner actually seeks out and shares.
If that blend of winning, deploying, and teaching is the role you have always wanted, this is it.
What We're Looking For
We aren't looking for someone to implement analytics software. We're looking for someone who wants to reinvent how analytics works.
We believe the future of analytics isn't another dashboard. It's AI working alongside analysts to make data dramatically easier to work with.
If you've ever looked at a dashboard, a semantic model, or a BI workflow and thought, there has to be a better way, you'll fit in well here.
Your job is to help customers experience that future using their own data. Every customer deployment is an opportunity to rethink how analytics gets done, not just replace one tool with another.
You're the person customers trust when they want to know if Golden will actually work in their environment.
You don't just give demos. You connect to real data warehouses, answer hard technical questions, build proof of concepts, and help customers see what's possible with their own data. You're equally comfortable talking with analytics engineers, data architects, and executives, and you enjoy being the technical expert in the room.
This is a forward deployed engineering role with four core responsibilities:
Win the technical evaluation
You'll become one of the deepest technical experts on Golden. You'll work closely with our CEO, Francois, to learn the platform inside and out before owning technical evaluations yourself.
That means leading product demonstrations, building proof of concepts against customer environments, and helping teams understand how Golden fits into modern data stacks built on Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, dbt, and semantic layers. You'll answer questions about architecture, governance, security, and performance with the credibility of someone who has actually built these systems before.
Deploy Golden with our largest customers
Closing the deal is only the beginning.
You'll work directly inside customer environments to help them become successful with Golden. You'll model real business data, build the first analyses that matter, establish semantic models, and help customers adopt Golden as part of their existing analytics workflow.
This isn't traditional software engineering. You're not building product features or backend services. You're building on top of modern data platforms using SQL, warehouse architecture, semantic modeling, and analytics engineering best practices.
Help build the future of Golden
The best ideas don't come from conference rooms. They come from working alongside customers.
You don't accept the status quo. You're constantly asking how analytics could be simpler, faster, and more intuitive. Every deployment is an opportunity to uncover friction, challenge assumptions, and imagine a better way to build analytics.
You'll find bugs before customers do. You'll identify patterns across deployments and turn them into product improvements. You'll write product requirements, sketch workflows, build prototypes, and partner closely with engineering and design to shape what we build next.
You're comfortable with ambiguity. Sometimes you'll have a fully formed feature request. More often you'll have a customer problem that needs to be understood before anyone knows the right solution. You enjoy that process.
We expect our Forward Deployed Engineers to have opinions. Some of Golden's best product ideas will come from you.
Help shape the data community
Great engineers don't just build products. They help move an industry forward.
We want someone who enjoys sharing what they learn. That might mean speaking at conferences, publishing technical blogs, creating videos, contributing examples, or partnering with our product team on launches. Not marketing content. Practical insights that data practitioners genuinely find useful.
As you become an expert in modern analytics and AI, you'll help establish Golden as a trusted voice in the data community—and you'll build your own reputation alongside it.
What You'll Build
- The technical win. Discovery-driven demos that go past the happy path, proofs of concept against real customer data in Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, and dbt-modeled environments, and the technical objection handling and competitive positioning against the legacy BI incumbents.
- The forward deployed motion for enterprise accounts. Embedded engagements that get Golden modeled, deployed, and genuinely adopted inside a customer's environment, with you as the engineer making their real data sing.
- The two-way bridge to product and engineering. Real evaluation and deployment friction flows back to the team; the roadmap flows back out to customers. Your win rate and their roadmap shape each other.
- Content that teaches, not markets. Blog posts, training and how-to videos, teardowns, worked examples, and release storytelling built with product. The dashboard that took three weeks becomes a post. The migration that clicked becomes a walkthrough.
- Golden's presence in the wild: webinars, community threads, meetups, and eventually stage time as a recognizable, credible voice on AI-native analytics.
- The forward deployed foundation itself: demo environments, POC playbooks, and the engagement model we scale behind you.
Requirements
- Senior-level experience in solutions engineering, sales engineering, analytics engineering, forward deployed engineering, or a technical field role where you owned the technical win. Title matters less than whether you have carried an evaluation or deployment across the line yourself.
- Real fluency with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery) and the modern data stack (dbt, semantic layers, the analytics engineering workflow). You have lived in this world, not just demoed near it.
- Strong SQL and a working understanding of how analytics gets built, governed, and broken inside a real company. If your background is software engineering rather than analytics, you should already be comfortable living in SQL and a warehouse day to day, this is not a role where you'll be writing application code.
- A visible instinct to teach and share, and a genuine appetite to build a public voice under your own name.
- Comfort with pre-GA ambiguity and the drive to build a function from scratch.
Nice to have: an existing following or content footprint in the data community; background at a BI or analytics vendor, or hands-on time as an analyst, analytics engineer, or forward deployed engineer; experience with a forward deployed or embedded delivery model at an early-stage company.
