Job Description

Data Governance Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Governance Analyst based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to shape enterprise data governance within a large-scale modernization program supporting federal court operations across the United States. You will help establish the policies, standards, processes, and accountability models that ensure data is managed as a strategic asset. Working across business, technology, security, privacy, legal, and records-management teams, you will turn governance requirements into practical controls and processes. The position combines data standards architecture, data quality, metadata, stewardship, privacy, and compliance. You will also contribute to governance roadmaps, maturity assessments, training, and continuous improvement. This is a fully remote role with no expected travel and an environment focused on modern data platforms, analytics, and responsible use of AI/ML.

Accountabilities
  • Support the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, standards, procedures, and operating models.
  • Define and maintain data standards, naming conventions, business definitions, data structures, reference data, and governance requirements across multiple systems and delivery teams.
  • Establish data ownership, stewardship, accountability, and decision-rights models, including RACI frameworks and stewardship responsibilities.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, Data Owners and Stewards, security, privacy, legal, records management, engineering, and technology teams to operationalize governance requirements.
  • Ensure data assets are appropriately classified and managed according to sensitivity, criticality, business value, privacy, security, retention, and regulatory requirements.
  • Translate policies and regulatory requirements into actionable governance controls, procedures, and compliant data-sharing practices.
  • Identify data governance gaps, risks, and compliance issues, coordinate remediation activities, and monitor the adoption and effectiveness of governance standards.
  • Support data access, sharing, usage, and lifecycle governance processes while contributing to governance councils, working groups, and data-domain forums.
  • Develop governance documentation, standards, decision logs, procedures, training materials, and awareness programs for technical and business audiences.
  • Support governance assessments, audits, compliance reviews, maturity evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Track, analyze, and report governance metrics, maturity, and compliance status to leadership and governance councils.
  • Contribute to data governance roadmaps and help foster a consistent, data-driven culture across geographically distributed business and technical teams.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field with 5+ years of general information-systems experience and 7+ years of specialized experience, or comparable experience and qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise data governance programs and translating governance policies into practical operational processes.
  • Strong understanding of data quality management, metadata management, data stewardship, ownership models, and enterprise data standards.
  • Experience governing high-sensitivity, regulated, or compliance-focused data environments.
  • Experience with data-quality profiling and monitoring techniques, as well as modern data governance tooling and operating practices.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, integration patterns, and change data capture concepts.
  • Experience with metadata and data catalog platforms such as Collibra, Alation, or Qlik, with practical exposure to business glossaries and data lineage.
  • Ability to translate technical metadata and governance concepts into clear, business-friendly definitions, documentation, and procedures.
  • Experience implementing data privacy controls, access-management practices, and compliant data-sharing processes.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with security, governance, engineering, business, and technology stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to manage governance activities across multiple teams.
  • Experience in federal government or other regulated environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with enterprise data governance frameworks and operating models is preferred.
  • A data management certification is a plus.
  • Must be able to satisfy applicable U.S. residency and security requirements associated with the role.
Benefits
  • Salary: Expected range of $128,039–$173,229, depending on experience, geographic location, and contractual considerations.
  • Work arrangement: Fully remote within the United States, with a 40-hour workweek.
  • Travel: No regular business travel expected.
  • Healthcare: Multiple medical plan options, including options with Health Savings Accounts, plus dental and vision coverage.
  • Retirement: 401(k) plan with employer matching and pre-tax and post-tax contribution options.
  • Paid time off: Vacation, sick and personal leave, plus paid holidays.
  • Family and life events: Paid parental, military, bereavement, jury-duty, and other applicable leave programs.
  • Paid family leave: Up to 160 hours within a rolling 12-month period for eligible employees.
  • Work-life balance: Flexible work-week options where applicable.
  • Financial and protection benefits: Short- and long-term disability, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, personal accident, critical illness, and business travel and accident coverage.
  • Professional growth: Access to career-development resources, learning opportunities, and internal mobility support.
