Job Description

The Director of People & Culture at Perlen House will lead our People & Culture initiatives in a transformative phase of hospitality excellence. This role is central to shaping a high-performance culture that aligns with organizational goals and supports innovative growth strategies.

As the People & Culture Director, you will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and a member of the property's Executive Committee, while remaining hands-on in day-to-day execution given the property's single-site, pre-opening scale.

The Director of People & Culture will champion talent development, service culture, and organizational change and is accountable for driving and executing people strategies that elevate associate experience, drive operational excellence, and support long-term growth that will support a full-service, upscale guest and associate experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Pre-Opening

• Lead all People & Culture pre-opening initiatives, including workforce planning, organizational readiness, and staffing timelines aligned to the hotel's opening date.

• In partner with Silver Ventures Corporate People & Culture; guide and implement recommended policies, procedures, interview standards, onboarding practices, and compliance processes for a newly opening hotel operation.

• Stand up core HR systems and infrastructure (HRIS, applicant tracking, payroll/timekeeping) in partnership with Corporate IT and Finance.

• Advocate for Perlen House's pre-opening staffing needs with the Silver Ventures Corporate Talent Attraction team, ensuring hiring plans and timelines reflect the property's operational readiness targets.

Strategic HR Leadership

• Partner with senior leadership and Silver Ventures Corporate People & Culture team to guide and implement people strategies that align with transformation goals.

• Translate high-level business objectives into people initiatives that foster a culture of productivity, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Talent Attraction & Development

• Guide recruitment strategies to attract, develop, and retain top-tier hospitality talent.

• Champion leadership development programs that build internal capabilities and support succession planning.

Culture & Employee Engagement

• Serve as a steward of organizational culture, facilitating associate recognition, communication, and engagement initiatives.

Employee Relations & Compliance

• Research and investigate workplace issues to discover facts, identify risk to the hotel, and facilitate resolution through structured employee relations processes.

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment law and uphold brand standards.

• Collect and analyze exit interview data, turnover statistics, and absenteeism reports to identify trends and inform training or supervisory action.

Performance & Organizational Development

• Implement organizational development programs in partnership with Silver Ventures Corporate People & Culture focusing on service transformation and operational agility.

• Monitor individualized development plans and succession pipelines for key roles.

HR Operations & Compliance

• Ensure HR policies, procedures, and practices comply with legal requirements and uphold brand standards.

Transformation & Change Management

• Lead change management efforts tied to hospitality innovation and operational transformation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

• 8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including at least 3 years in a Director-level HR role within a full-service or upscale hotel; independent or lifestyle hotel experience a plus.

• Fluent in English and Spanish (read, write, speak)

• SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification.

• Hotel pre-opening experience strongly preferred.

• Proven success in partnering with senior leadership and external stakeholders to drive culture and business transformation.

• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
