Job Description
Job Description:
The Warehouse Supervisor oversees all outbound shipping activities to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant delivery of finished goods. This role manages warehouse personnel, coordinates with production and warehouse teams, and ensures adherence to food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for optimizing shipping processes, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting customer service goals.
Essential Functions:
-Daily Operations: Ensures transfers between facilities are completed to meet production and delivery requirements. Ensure all outbound shipments are staged, prepared, loaded, and dispatched on time. Verify accuracy of will call and same day orders, packaging, and labeling in compliance with food safety standards physically and systematically. Ensure that all routes are secured, loaded properly, and OTIF procedures are followed.
-Compliance & Safety: Maintain compliance with FDA/USDA, HACCP, GMP, and company food safety policies. Enforce safety protocols for docks, forklifts, material handling and address as needed.
-Documentation & Systems: Oversee all warehouse documentation and ensure accuracy in ERP system. Resolve all systematic and physical discrepancies. Quantify and validate customer claims systemically.
-Inventory & Coordination: Collaborate with warehouse and production teams to manage finished goods, raw, WIP, and packaging inventory. Coordinate with customer service and procurement for scheduling and special delivery requirements.
-Continuous Improvement: Identify process improvements to reduce errors, costs, and delays. Train and develop shipping staff on best practices and compliance requirements.
-Vendor Relationships: Act as secondary point of contact in absence of Warehouse Manager. Support in issuing POs and receiving non-inventory items.
-Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse supervision, preferably in manufacturing or food production environments.
Skills:
-Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization, from hourly team members, drivers, leadership, to customers and vendor partners.
-Strong Microsoft Office skills.
-Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage tasks effectively.
-Knowledge of ERP/WMS systems and shipping documentation.
-Familiarity with food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP).
-Strong leadership, communication, follow-up, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
-Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information, and ability to convey direction to team(s) as requested.
-Ability to work in a fast-paced, refrigerated production environment.
-Will require flexibility and ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or during peak production periods.
Work Environment:
-Primarily in a warehouse or shipping dock area (non-office environment) within a food production facility.
-Exposure to cold storage areas (refrigerated or frozen) and ambient warehouse conditions.
-Frequent movement between production floor, staging areas, and shipping docks.
-Moderate to high noise levels from forklifts, pallet jacks, and production equipment.
-Busy environment with frequent interaction with drivers, loaders, and production staff.
-Strict adherence to GMPs, HACCP, PPE requirements (steel-toe, non-slip boots, high-visibility vest, gloves, hairnets, smock).
-Regular exposure to moving equipment and heavy loads—must follow all safety protocols.
-Ability to travel to secondary facility as needed.
Physical Demands:
-Ability to stand and walk for 8–10 hours per shift on concrete floors.
-Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching to inspect loads and verify documentation.
-Lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally (e.g., produce, pallets, shrink wrap).
-Assist with manual loading/unloading when necessary.
-Operate or supervise operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
-Comfortable working in cold storage (28–40°F) and ambient warehouse conditions.
-Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods.
-Comfortable working in environments with moderate noise levels and wet environments (humidity/wet floors).
