Caregiver CNA at Blissful Companion Care LLC – Southern York PA, Pennsylvania

Position Summary

The Caregiver is primarily responsible for providing compassionate care to elderly clients in their homes, which may include light housekeeping, ADL (Activities of Daily Living), meal and laundry service.

Essential Functions

• Provides care to clients according to each client’s individualized plan of care.
• Provides range of motion to all extremities daily with morning and evening care. Follows instructions of physical therapist to maintain proper body alignment, and proper positioning of all residents.
• Assist in personal care (dressing/undressing, toileting, tub bath/shower, nails, hair care, shaving, hygiene, help with prosthetic devices, dentures, artificial limbs, hearing aids) of residents as individually needed.
• Emptying diaper disposal device " Diaper Genie".
• Keeping clients safe and keeping clients engaged throughout your day shift.
• Daily, or as needed: make or turn down beds, empty trash, replace toilet tissue, offer clean towels and straighten/tidy room.
• Change bed lined in designated rooms.
• Wash residents personal clothing and return them to the resident’s room in a neat and organized way.
• Meal prep, serve meals and maintain food safety guidelines while assisting in food storage, prep and cleanup.
• Complete assignment sheets daily noting unusual events and care unable to be provided.
• Maintain appropriate communication with clients’ family members.
• Approach tasks with patience and sensitivity, maintaining dignity.
• Develop strategies for dealing with aggression, agitation, or wandering.
• Monitor and address any changes in the person’s condition.
• Drive client to appointments and errands.

• PA State Criminal History, PA Child Abuse, National Sex Offender Registry, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), Drug Testing and Physical assessment are required prior to hire and required every five years. Physical assessments will be required every two years.

Educational and Other Requirements

• Current nurse aide certification in good standing in the state in which the client is located
• 1 Year Prior Experience Working in Assisted Living (preferred, not required)
• Willing to work a flexible schedule (including weekends)
• Desire to work with seniors
• Reliability, patience, and empathy
• Have a valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass a drug screening and criminal background check
• Clean motor vehicle driving history

While performing the essential functions, the employee is standing, sitting, walking, talking, and hearing using repetitive motion and use of manual dexterity most of the time while frequently lifting, carrying, kneeling, handling, grasping, and feeling and occasionally pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, and reaching.

The employee may be exposed to extreme cold, heat and frequent temperature changes and possible atmospheric conditions and hazards and frequent noise. The associate must have the ability to frequently exert force with little physical effort and for light work and occasional medium work.
