About the Role
The Director, Event Success, leads the Event Success team within the WSJ Barron's Group Live Journalism organization, overseeing the strategy, execution, and optimization of sponsor experiences across the event portfolio. This role is responsible for ensuring the seamless delivery of sponsor activations and sponsor networking experiences across both custom and news-led events while maintaining the highest standards of client service and operational excellence.
The Director manages and develops a team of Event Success Managers and the Networking Concierge Service, ensuring sponsors achieve meaningful engagement and measurable ROI through their event participation. Acting as a key bridge between Sales, Event Production, Programming and Marketing teams, the Director ensures sponsor deliverables are executed flawlessly while aligning with editorial integrity and the overall event experience.
This role combines strategic leadership, client relationship oversight, and operational management to scale processes, enhance sponsor engagement, and support the continued growth of the Live business.

Team Leadership & Management
- Lead and manage the Event Success team, including Event Success Managers and Networking Concierge Connection Leader
- Develop team strategy, priorities, and workflows to ensure consistent delivery of sponsor activations and networking experiences
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management to ensure team growth and operational excellence
- Develop and refine team processes, workflows, and best practices to scale the Event Success function
- Identify efficiencies and operational improvements across sponsor management and event delivery
- Ensure consistent project management standards across the team
Sponsor Experience & Client Success
- Own the end-to-end sponsor experience post-sale, ensuring seamless execution of all sponsorship benefits and deliverables
- Oversee client relationship management and escalation points across major sponsorships
- Ensure sponsors achieve their objectives through successful activations, networking opportunities, and engagement
- Maintain the highest level of client service and represent Live Journalism in key client conversations
- Oversee the creation of post-event sponsor recaps and analytics, highlighting measures of success including engagement metrics and networking outcomes
- Translate event insights into actionable recommendations to improve future sponsor activations
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as the senior liaison between Sales, Production/Program Management, Marketing/PR, Programming, Creative, and other Dow Jones teams
- Ensure alignment across internal teams to deliver sponsor activations that complement the editorial event experience
- Support Sales teams during pre-sale or renewal conversations when strategic guidance or activation expertise is required
You Have:
- 12+ years experience in client services, account management, sponsorship activation, or related roles
- Experience managing and developing teams in a fast-paced, client-facing environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex event programs and sponsor deliverables
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong experience coordinating cross-functional teams and multiple concurrent projects
- Ability to problem-solve quickly and adapt in a dynamic environment
- Experience managing high-profile clients and executive stakeholders
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Asana or similar collaboration tools
- Ability to travel and be onsite at events
