Insurance Verification Coordinator at SOUTH BOSTON COMMUNITY HEALTH – South Boston, Massachusetts

The insurance Verification Coordinator is responsible for verifying patients’ insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage for health center appointments. Collaborate closely with front desk staff and the Billing department to minimize errors and claim denials. Communicate with patients by phone and via MyChart to resolve any discrepancies before their appointment, ensuring maximum coverage. Support the registration desk as needed.

Job Duties:

• Performs insurance verification using our EHR, online payor portals and other designated resources.
• Ensures 100% accuracy of patient insurance information to be submitted for claims processing.
• Contact patients ahead of their appointment to resolve discrepancies with insurance coverage or other demographics.
• Inform patients of any referral requirements for urgent care services.
• Collaborate with the billing department to ensure a smooth revenue cycle.
• Prepare and monitor the processing of forms related to plan changes and PCP assignment changes.
• Assists all registration desks when needed.

• High School Diploma or equivalent degree required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Background in insurance plans such as Medicare, Medicaid, Health Connector Plans and employer-sponsored insurances.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to multitask. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of Epic preferred. Bilingual communication skills preferred but not required.
