About This Position
Salary: $60,000 - $65,000/year
*The start date for this position is estimated to be early- to mid-September 2026.
Gunnison is seeking a Desktop Technician to support the Department of the Interior/Indian Affairs (DOI/IA) user base. This role provides end-user computing support across enterprise environments, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and network infrastructure. The Desktop Technician III will install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software, support standard and specialized applications, and ensure reliable IT operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior-level technical leader responsible for enterprise support, project management, and team oversight. This role serves as a key decision-maker and technical authority.
- Provide expert-level support for complex desktop, network, and enterprise IT environments
- Lead and manage technical projects, including planning, execution, and delivery
- Oversee and coordinate teams of desktop technicians
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project and operational documentation
- Serve as a senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) for enterprise IT systems
- Ensure standardization of processes, procedures, and best practices
- Support and troubleshoot specialized applications (e.g., GIS, AutoCAD, IA-specific systems)
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies
- Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders on strategic IT initiatives
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 5 years of related technical experience, including leadership responsibilities
- Expert knowledge of:
Microsoft operating systems
Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
Desktop and enterprise IT infrastructure
- Proven ability to manage and initiate projects
- Strong leadership and team management experience (5+ staff)
- Ability to work independently without guidance
- Experience supporting specialized or enterprise applications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
The salary range for this position depends upon multiple factors including location, the individual's knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, and contract-specific budget constraints and organizational requirements.
