We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Project Manager for Automation Service Team. This role is responsible for leading automation installation projects from planning through execution, ensuring they meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations. The role is focused on project management activities, including cross‑functional coordination, customer communication, resource planning, data analysis, and process improvement. This role involves managing field service operations to ensure successful on-site installation, troubleshooting, and customer support for automation equipment.
As a first-level manager, this role provides direction to project coordinators and installation teams, drives operational efficiency, and ensures high customer satisfaction. The Project Manager serves as the central point of contact for customer needs, quotations, technical issues, and program changes. Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage automation installation service projects from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and company goals. Ensure project and departmental milestones are met while adhering to approved budgets.
- Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to support successful execution. Facilitate communication across engineering, design, procurement, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to maintain alignment on project deliverables.
- Serve as the primary customer contact for quotations, cost discussions, project changes, status updates, and contract-related inquiries.
- Partner with vendors and suppliers to ensure cost, lead time, and quality meet project expectations.
- As needed, lead technical team during the installation of service projects at customer sites. This includes assuring safe work practices, assigning work, tracking time and attendance, and leadership of the service installation team.
Travel: This position requires flexibility to report to Paslin and customer sites. During an installation project this role will typically require overnight travel to customer sites for periods of up to 5 days at a time, estimated travel 20%. Must be able to travel to sites in USA, Canada and Mexico.
Work Environment: This position operates in both an office and a shop/plant environment, may be required to work at multiple facilities depending on workload.
Work type & Expected hours of work: Regularly works on-site at local Paslin location. Typical work schedule for this role is flexible around core business hours of 7am-4pm, Monday to Friday. During critical phases of the project, work hours may flex up to 12 hours per day. This position is for regular, full-time work and may require coming in early, working late, or working on weekends to meet the needs of the business.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and twist. Occasionally required to lift/push/pull up to 25lbs. May require working on elevated platforms. This is a safety sensitive role, which includes working around moving equipment and machinery.
Direct Reports: This position is part of the site leadership team and will have direct reports.
Skills / Experience:
- 7+ years of related Project Management experience. Industry related experience in automation tooling, manufacturing, or weld systems.
- 3+ years’ experience as frontline leadership of skilled technicians including machine builders, toolmakers, pipefitters, welders, electricians, robot programmers, controls designers.
- Financial acumen, Cost-to-Complete, budget accountability
- Strong technical knowledge of tool assembly processes and welding/automated systems
- HS diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Technical aptitude, Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Proficient in MS Office suite, ERP systems, MS Project
