Registered Nurse - OR Nurse Academy at Crouse Hospital – Syracuse, New York

Crouse Hospital's PeriOperative Nurse Academy is unique to the area and offers a foundation for excellence and learning. This professional development initiative provides competitive pay with an in-depth orientation to the challenges and rewards of nursing practice in the PeriOperative arena. Progression through the program is expected to take nine to twelve months. Those accepted must agree to a two year commitment in the OR after completion of the program. The Academy experience includes:

o PeriOp 101 (an online core curriculum developed by AORN)

o Hands-on training in our state-of-the-art simulation lab

o Ongoing feedback and evaluation

The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the planning, implementing and evaluation of care for a given patient population with the established standards and practices of Crouse Hospital. This process is enacted through direct clinical practice, management of patient care and general professional duties.

Required: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Degree program. Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire or within 2 weeks after hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification must be obtained within one (1) year of the hire date, if deemed necessary for the position based on the scope of the assigned role.

IF HIRED OR LICENSED AFTER 1/1/2017: MUST complete BSN (Bachelors in Nursing within 8 years of hire date into the Registered Nurse position)

Preferred: Certification in a specialty area.
