Junior Payroll Specialist at Superior Rigging and Erecting Co – Atlanta, Georgia

Overview

The Payroll Specialist supports payroll operations by ensuring accurate data entry, timekeeping validation, and payroll processing support across both field and office employees.

This role is critical to maintaining payroll accuracy, supporting compliance requirements, and ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time. The Payroll Specialist works under the guidance of the Senior Payroll Specialist and collaborates closely with HR, Operations, and Finance.

Primary Focus Areas

Payroll Data Entry | Timekeeping Validation | Payroll Processing Support | Compliance Support | Employee Support | Recordkeeping

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with weekly and biweekly payroll processing
• Enter and validate payroll data including hours, pay adjustments, and deductions
• Review timecards for accuracy and completeness
• Support payroll close and post-processing activities

• Coordinate with field supervisors to ensure accurate time submission
• Review job coding and labor allocations for accuracy
• Follow up on missing or inconsistent time entries

• Maintain payroll records in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements
• Support preparation of reports for audits and compliance reviews
• Assist with union reporting and certified payroll documentation as needed

• Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner
• Assist employees with paycheck questions, deductions, and tax forms
• Escalate complex issues to the Senior Payroll Specialist

• Support onboarding payroll setup for new hires
• Assist with offboarding and final paycheck processing
• Maintain organized and accurate payroll documentation

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 1+ years of payroll, accounting, or administrative experience
• Experience in construction or field-based workforce environments preferred
• Familiarity with payroll systems (Paylocity preferred)
• Basic understanding of payroll laws and compliance requirements
