Senior Network Engineer at Abundant Life Church – Lee's Summit, Missouri

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our enterprise and AVL production networks. This role requires deep expertise in traditional business networking (with a focus on Ubiquiti Networks) and advanced knowledge of production technologies including Netgear switches, Dante audio networking, NDI video transport, and lighting control systems.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Enterprise Networking

• Design, deploy, and manage LAN/WAN/WLAN infrastructure using Ubiquiti UniFi and EdgeMax platforms
• Implement and maintain VPNs, VLANs, QoS, and firewall rules.
• Monitor and optimize network performance, reliability, and security.
• Perform regular firmware updates, backups, and documentation.
• Manage DHCP, DNS, and NAT configurations across multiple subnets.

AVL Production Network

• Architect and maintain a robust network backbone for live production environments.
• Configure and manage Netgear switches with IGMP snooping, multicast routing, and VLAN segmentation.
• Support Dante audio networks including clocking, routing, and troubleshooting.
• Manage NDI video streams across multiple devices ensuring low-latency and high-bandwidth performance.
• Integrate and support lighting control systems using DMX, Art-Net, and sACN protocols.
• Ensure proper network isolation and prioritization for AV-over-IP traffic.

General Duties

• Collaborate with IT and production teams to ensure seamless integration of AVL systems.
• Provide Tier 3 support for escalated network issues.
• Develop and maintain network documentation and diagrams.
• Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide training on specialized technologies.

Skills and Qualifications

• Networking Platforms: Ubiquiti UniFi, EdgeMax, Netgear ProSAFE/AV Line switches
• Protocols & Services: TCP/IP, UDP, IGMP, SNMP, DHCP, DNS, NAT, QoS, STP/RSTP
• Audio Networking: Dante Controller, Dante Virtual Soundcard, Dante Domain Manager
• Video Networking: NDI Tools, multicast video transport, AV-over-IP optimization
• Lighting Control: DMX, Art-Net, sACN, Luminex networking
• Security: VLAN segmentation, firewall configuration, VPN setup, network hardening
• Monitoring & Diagnostics: Wireshark, SolarWinds, PRTG, UniFi Network Application
• Scripting & Automation: Python, Bash, PowerShell (for diagnostics and automation)
• Virtualization & Cloud: VMware, Hyper-V, cloud-managed networking (UniFi Cloud Key, Dream Machine Pro)
• Documentation Tools: Visio, Lucidchart, NetBox

Education/Experience

• 5+ years of experience in network engineering, with experience in AVL or production environments.
• Certifications such as CCNP, CWNA, Dante Certification, or Ubiquiti UEWA are a plus.
