This role sits at the center of complex bodily injury claims handling, where analytical rigor, negotiation skills, and customer focus come together to deliver fair and timely resolutions. You will investigate and manage moderate to highly complex claims, often involving liability disputes, uninsured or underinsured motorists, and litigation-related files. The position requires close collaboration with legal counsel, underwriting, and other internal stakeholders to ensure accurate coverage interpretation and appropriate claim outcomes. You will play a key role in assessing damages, determining liability, and negotiating settlements within authority limits. The environment is fast-paced, detail-oriented, and highly regulated, requiring strong judgment and resilience. You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end handling of bodily injury and complex liability claims, ensuring accurate assessment, fair settlement, and adherence to internal and regulatory standards. Your work will involve investigation, negotiation, and collaboration across multiple stakeholders to resolve claims efficiently and professionally.
- Investigate and evaluate bodily injury claims, including coverage, liability, and damages assessment
- Interpret insurance policies and determine applicable coverage for complex claim scenarios
- Negotiate and settle claims with plaintiffs, solicitors, and other involved parties within authority limits
- Maintain accurate reserves aligned with exposure and file complexity
- Manage litigation files in collaboration with defense counsel when required
- Ensure compliance with claims handling standards, regulatory requirements, and internal best practices
- Monitor legislative changes and industry trends to support claims strategy and decision-making
This role requires strong experience in bodily injury claims handling, excellent analytical thinking, and the ability to operate effectively in a high-volume, fast-moving environment. Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential for success.
- Proven experience handling bodily injury insurance claims of moderate to high complexity
- Strong understanding of liability assessment, coverage interpretation, and claims valuation
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities under pressure
- Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with claims systems such as Guidewire ClaimCenter (asset)
- Enrollment in or completion of CIP designation (asset)
- Bilingualism (English/French) considered an asset
