This is a highly people-focused role where emotional intelligence and critical thinking are equally essential.

Accountabilities:

  • Assess claims using medical, functional, occupational, and psychosocial information to support informed decision-making.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with participants, employers, healthcare providers, and internal specialists to coordinate recovery and return-to-work plans.
  • Document case progress, decisions, and communications clearly and accurately in internal systems.
  • Prepare written correspondence explaining decisions and coverage details in a clear and professional manner.
  • Handle inbound and outbound calls while ensuring responsive and empathetic customer service.
  • Identify opportunities for recovery and return-to-work strategies aligned with best practices and participant needs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of case management processes and operational efficiency.
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings a mix of healthcare knowledge, analytical ability, and strong interpersonal skills to manage sensitive cases effectively:

  • Post-secondary education in healthcare, insurance, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in disability case management or group insurance is considered an asset.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to manage sensitive conversations with empathy, professionalism, and emotional intelligence.
  • Comfortable handling phone-based communication (incoming and outgoing calls).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to assess complex case information.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset (required for some roles depending on location).
  • Ability to work independently in a structured, remote-first environment.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary ranging from approximately $51,975 to $86,625 CAD, depending on experience and location.
  • Performance-based incentive programs and bonus eligibility.
  • Fully remote work environment across multiple Canadian provinces.
  • Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, vision, mental health, and disability insurance.
  • Retirement savings plans with employer contributions.
  • Paid time off including vacation, personal days, sick leave, and statutory holidays.
  • Employee and family assistance programs and wellness resources.
  • Learning and development opportunities to support career growth.
  • Inclusive and flexible work culture focused on well-being and support.
